Not wanting to fall behind in my duties, time for a new SOTD thread in anticipation of what tomorrow brings!

As I mentioned last year, there is no set format, although, in case this helps, personally I include:

Pre-shave: if applicable
Brush:
Soap/Cream:
Razor:
(setting in parenthesis if adjustable)
Blade: (shave in brackets)
Post-shave:
Fragrance:
(EDT, EDC or EDP) if applicable

Browse through any of the 333 (Wow, impressive!) pages of the Shave of the Day Thread - 2017 if you are still looking for inspiration.

Photos, of any quality, are encouraged but not essential. We don't host images directly on the forum. You will need to host on sites like Flickr or Imgur and use them to generate a BBCode link, see instructions for Flickr and Imgur respectively. Alternatively you can use services like TinyPic, use 'IMG Code for Forums & Message Boards' or Postimage, use 'Hotlink for forums' to generate links.

In all cases it is helpful to resize images with the last two sites recommending 640*480 for forums

Thoughts and reflections on the shave are most welcome too, as are general comments du jour.

Happy shaving guys

Happy New Year folks!

Well Happy New Year Lads

For today's SOTD and as it's now a new year I applied an old trade I use to use in days gone by and gave the FatBoy 58 some TLC. Still looks good with it's original nickel plate.

Coupled it with with a regular rotation

Razor: refinished fatboy (4)
Blade: GSB
Soap: MWF
Post: witch hazel

Simple easy shave to bring in the new year.
Hope you lot pulled up okay from your festivities

Good lord...what is that doll thing!!!
Guys if @Maxime D. disappears off the forum this doll is the number 1 suspect.

My wife’s grandma used to make porcelain doll and though they are exquisitely made and precious as a momento but they are soooo freaky when you forget that you put on in the closet cause it was too scary on display and go to get a coat...

Pre-shave: - Cold Water straight from the tap
Brush: - Maseto Extra Density 2 Band Finest Badger 24/54mm knot
Soap/Cream: - Mitchell's Wool Fat
Bowl: - Captain's Choice
Razor: - GEM Micromatic Bullet Tip
Blade: - GEM Personna SS PTFE Coated #1
Post-shave: - Thayers Witch Hazel / Lucky Tiger Aftershave & Face Tonic
Fragrance: - Dolce&Gabbana Pour Homme

This is my very first shave with a GEM Micromatic Bullet Tip SE.... All I can say is WOW!! very very smooth shave far better than the Colonial Razors the General, I've should've got the GEM Micromatic Bullet Tip years ago.
Getting tricky shaving WTG above my lip under the nose so I have to go XTG on the first pass, because the head is very tricky around the nose area.

Question to all GEM loves.. Do you flip the blade over after each shave or do you just leave the blade in the GEM, how many per shaves can the GEM blade reach to the maximum before it's start tugging I just need a rough idea of a total number.

Cheers ;)(y)

First SOTD for 2018 yahoo, well not really.
Brush: Muhle Silvertip 21mm horn
Soap: OSP Peppermint & Rosemary
Razor: Guerilla OC w 2 piece matt travel handle
Blade: Timor (2)
Post: APR Suitably Attired Summer

Terrible shave though without weepers. Couldn't get the OSP soap to play ball as sample size and using daughter's melamine bfast bowl. Lather was there, slick but lacked any cushion.
My stubble was dry as pre shower shave and didn't take the time to steam/moisten the hairs.
Bugger this it's the holidays so one pass with light buff.
APR splash made up for it, truly great product.
Look forward to the new year, it will be a busy one.

I flip each time and flush clean as lather builds up easily on the blade in that design.
More of a DE boy and will bring the SEs out in Sept. Surprised you liked the gem bullet over your General, very surprised as the AC blades are so much better (imho) (y)
Happy New year @SpeedyPC

Glad you enjoyed the Bullet tip, it is a nice razor. "far better than the Colonial Razors the General" Praise indeed!
I never think to flip the blade, it may help I guess, though I usually take it out after a shave so it may change sides anyway. I usually use a blade for about 6 shaves but I know some people push them further.
Perhaps you will try the MMOC next, I think it is a little better with more blade feel, though both are great razors.

Have nightmares everyone! Happy new years!
You even armed the doll with a weapon. :dead:

That’s a beauty, I personally have a thing for Native American Bows and archery generally.
As far as measures to “Chucky proof” the house I do have measures in place aswell.

Glad you like the Micromatic @SpeedyPC - I do the same as @Sticky suggests - take out the blade, rinse out the lather from the razor and leave the blade out to dry. I usually get 8-10 shaves out of these thicker GEM blades.
