New Karve on the way (damn rabbit hole)...

About a week of using the karve with c-plate, immediately I could see that I’m getting consistently better results. The razor holds the blade ever so firmly. There isn’t much blade feel, but I find the razor with c-plate much more efficient than the Muhle r89.

The downside is that I can smell the brass. Not a deal breaker for me, but the sooner Chris releases a stainless version the better. Till then, I suppose I’ll not breath when I’m shaving under my nose.

I don’t have any issues with the smell of brass, as long as you give the Karve a complete clean using warm soapy water and then another complete clean using toothpaste with a toothbrush before you place a new blade.

I always do this before placing a new blade, the owner who makes the Karve said to used toothpaste when using a fully brass razor.

Nice advice @SpeedyPC . Just tried it on the brass General and it worked well. I don't think I noticed the brass smell so much until I had polished the General with Brasso then it was more annoying. Smells better after the toothpaste. (y)

Toothpaste idea looks like a winner. Would never of thought that would work. Nice work @SpeedyPC for the share.

@Lego yeah the metallic smell can be strong. Hence I'll happily wait for the SS version. Though in the mean time you could send it away for a CeraKote in brass colour, flecked gold or something more creative.

If you're not in the know, look up North Shore Razors and Delta Echo razors.

Damn you @SpeedyPC now you have me wanting one of these Karves!!!

Both wonderful razors. Karve #B = GC #.68 - Karve # C = GC #.84. You won’t go wrong with either but the Karve will give you a lot more options.

thanks.. can i ask why you feel it will give more options? i thought it would of been the other way around with the game changer being adjustable

The GC is not adjustable as you suggest. Standard it comes with #.68 plate, a #.84 plate model is available or you can just purchase the missing plate to give you the flexibility of two plates. The Karve CB has seven different plates options. Both razors have handle options.

My review of the GC will be posted on Saturday.

cheers. will look forward to the review. in regards to the GC, i thought it was adjustable, not sure how i came to that conclusion though, reckon i was looking at more than one razor that day and confused myself, thanks for clearing that up

Was about to purchase the Karve CB but stumbled across Chris's recent AMA. The first batch of the SS version is expected to be released before Christmas. Tough decision (I'm sure most of you guys can't relate ;)). Expected to be double in price but I reckon it's worth the wait?

I'm leaning towards getting the 6s/6c just for the meantime. Although it's hard to justify grabbing the 6s given I'm willing to splurge on the Karve SS...

What to do, gentlemen. haha.
