First Paste & Cut travelling hardware box

welcome @EJ_DE98 was a pleasure to meet you... Also want to say a big thank you to everyone who contributed with donating their razors and for @alfredus for taking the time to organise this

yes absolutely i loved the whole experience and it has given me a clear direction in what i need i a razor, and what i dont want

My overall experience was

  • Game Changer was a nice looking razor but event he 0.84 head was too mild for me.
  • I loved the feel and look of the karve and it did shave well, but not much better than what i already have, so not worth buying for me IMHO
  • Couldnt get into the vintage (sorry @Mark1966), i tried these after the wolf and you just cannot compare
  • Mergress.. i didnt like this at all, gave me an excellent shave but it felt like i was holding a brick

  • The Wolfman... this is what dreams are made of.. felt brilliant and gave a luxurious shave.. It gave a smooth and super close shave, to the point where so much less hair was back the next day. This razor gave this with a 100% irritation free shave all the while the feel giving a totally enjoyable experience. Lastly the audible feedback was amazing, never heard nothing like it.

Anyway for me.. The wolf is the one and nothing comes close (that i have tried). So begins my quest to get a high end bit of hardware that i can enjoy on a daily basis, for many years to come.. i used to think those razors were a waste of money but now see them as a good investment.

Glad to see you are enjoying the box guys and thanks for taking the time to write some reviews (y)(y)(y)

Another stellar shave with the Wolfman WR1, just an absolute pleasure to use.

The head on this razor seems impossibly thin yet remains wonderfully balanced and I found the shave angle without any difficulty at all. I do, however, get the feeling that if you do not treat this razor with the utmost respect that it can do some serious damage. The Rockwell on the other hand, especially on the lower plates, feels like it’s almost impossible to cut yourself badly.

Today’s shave was with the CB Karve plate C

A few observations
No issues with the brass
The cap is noticeably less curved compared to the Rockwell
The cut outs at each end of the cap make it appear that the end tabs of the blade stick out much further than they actually do
The razor is nicely balanced although the head feels lighter than the SS Rockwell

Onto the shave
The C plate feels very mild, about 2.5 on the Rockwell, and the razor feels almost soft on the skin and seems to have less drag. I really had to concentrate to find the sweet spot with regard to the shave angle and at times struggled but assume that this would improve with further use. The result was a DFS.
Looking forward to the D plate on the next shave.

Same set up as my previous shave except with the D plate.
Still struggling to find the correct shave angle with the Karve, the Rockwell definitely has a larger sweet spot in this regard. The D plate is more to my liking equating to about 3-3.5 on the Rockwell. The Karve is a nice razor but with a Rockwell in my den I won’t be rushing out to get one.

Had a great shave this morning with the Gillette British Aristocrat, a beautiful bit of kit.
Although considerably smaller and lighter than the Rockwell the performance is not at all compromised. The shave was equivalent to about the 3 plate, mild but still very effective.

Will definitely be looking to add this to the den.

The vintage Gillette Aristocrat, stylish good looks with performance to match.

Finally, somebody with taste!

Apologies for the lack of feedback, long weekend here in Adelaide so took the opportunity to get away for a few days. Did manage a couple of shaves while away with the Gamechanger 0.84 plate and Nacet blade.
A mild yet efficient razor, definitely suited to a sharper blade. The profile of the head is very slim and a feature that I particularly like is that the end tabs of the razor blade are completely enclosed. A suitable daily driver, that would make a great addition to the den.

Final shave tomorrow morning with the Wolfman before the box heads over to @fruityasu.

The hardware box is now on its way to @fruityasu

Just wanted to say a big thank you to @alfredus @todras @Mark1966 @Nico and to anyone else involved in organising the travelling hardware box. Really appreciated the opportunity to shave with some magnificent razors, my only regret was not having more time.
The Wolfman absolutely blew me away, an awesome razor, head and shoulders above everything else. I definitely want one!
The Game Changer and Gillette Aristocrat were a pleasure to shave with and both performed admirably, as for the Karve... well we didn’t get along, although we were only together for a short time.
Thanks again.

that wolfman is truly a thing of beauty.. to bad he makes it too hard to acquire

Ask for a second one so young @StratMan can also obtain one. I hear he's willing to pay up to $5,000....

absolutely... not!!!!!! as much as i loved the wolfman i refuse to follow a twitter account and play quick draw mcgraw to get a dam razor, on principle alone

just look at these crazy prices

i will however, at some point, own something special.. atm the timeless is at the forefront, however charcoal goods n ATT are hovering :(
