I have just blended and bottled some Bootleggers El Dorado aftershave.
The Bootleggers series of aftershaves are an initiative of members on fellow wet-shaving forum Badger and Blade, based in the US.
I used an empty Myrsol bottle - I reckon it scrubs up pretty well. Oh - and the blended aftershave scent is pretty much awesome.
The recipe is:
  • 2 parts Pinaud Clubman Special Reserve
  • 2 parts Pinaud Clubman Classic Vanilla
  • 1 part Dana English Leather

Second that!

Might have to pick up the ingredients next time I'm in the US of A!

I don't see the issue, Clubman aftershaves are available from many local suppliers and English Leather is available at priceritemart.com.au.

DUH! Forgot that ...

Nailed it, Mate.
I'm struggling to find local suppliers for other Bootlegger ingredients, such as Mennen Skin Bracer, Aqua Velva, Osage Rub, Florida Water, and Superior70 Bay Rum.. Any intel?

Florida Water can be found on ebay locally, used by wicca and voodoo practitioners apparently. The other ones, no idea about if they're available locally. However Aqua Velva and Skin Bracer are easily obtained on ebay from US sellers willing to ignore the restrictions on alcohol. I buy my Aqua Velva here. Same seller also sells Skin Bracer.

Cheers - you are a pillar of the P&C community.

There *might* be a collection of US "drugstore" aftershaves in a charity auction later in the year too ...

Does anyone know of a local supplier of either Master Bay Rum or Superior70 Bay Rum? I've had no joy.

I can see why the yanks be crazy for these splash hacks. Last time I was in the States I couldn’t help but bring back a stash of Mennen Skin Bracer and Aqua Velva. Cheaper than chips, and stares at you from every corner store Walgreens.
(but stuff is nasty used solo...I sold or gave all my stocks away a few years back. Kinda regret it now really...)

Yep - you're right, Stillsy. Having said that, we have easy access to Imperial Leather aftershave, but it is unavailable in the US and UK. I've had a heap of UK wet shavers ask me about it.
Which has me thinking - maybe substitute Dana English Leather with Imperial Leather in the Bootlegger's El Dorado Blend -hmmmmm?

IIRC The Stray Whisker sells, or at least sold Masters brand A/S.

Funnily enough i was researching this exact same topic on B&B and came across this thread on google while doing some "further reading"

The Myrosol bottle looks awesome. Does any one know a local supplier of Myrosol. I am very keen to try them but have been looking for a local supplier without success for some time.

BTW, your labels look awesome. Where did you get the graphics / template and what kind of labels did you use to print them?

Florida Water can be found on ebay locally

Found it. There seems to be 1 or 2 aussie sellers plus heaps of different overseas "brands" of Florida Water on eBay - all claiming to be "original". Is there a specific brand that is best to use?

However Aqua Velva and Skin Bracer are easily obtained on ebay from US sellers willing to ignore the restrictions on alcohol. I buy my Aqua Velva here. Same seller also sells Skin Bracer.

Thanks for that link. You are a Champion!

Did you end up finding local suppliers for these two @TomG ?

Con told me they won’t be stocking Masters aftershave, because, not enough customers buying the product.

Such a pity. I think you are right as i couldn't find any of the Master Well Comb products on the Stray Whiskers website at all. The Master Well Comb Topaz is awesome. One of my favorites in fact. Unfortunately my bottle was damaged in transit. I would love to get my hands on some more. Does anyone know where i might be able to get a bottle locally?

Has anyone tried making the other varieties of the Bootlegger series?

OK .... Found that section and am watching it very very closely now :)

Meanwhile, can anyone direct me to the link where the original bootlegger recipes are posted. I think that there are 3 or 4 or 5 different variations. I thought that it was on B&B wiki thinggy but it seems to have escaped my bookmarking skills and i have googled it without success until i'm cross eyed!

Any alternative to the Superior70 Bay Rum that we can use? It seems impossible to buy these days
