The general watch talk discussion

Hurry up and get your bum in the big chair
Well with the RGC our IPM and some of the best ritualists I have ever seen I have a TON to learn before that but I’m trying. Did a third last month and delivered the tools as senior Deacon.

Keep in mind the JW is more of a challenging and the most responsible role in the chair.

Anyway let not hi jack the topic ;)

SRPB23k “Save the ocean” Samurai

Strategically laid the ground work and have gotten the approval to start the saving for a grail watch of mine ;)

Thinking about moving on my skx013, every time I want a dive watch I reach for the samurai.
But I know I’d buy one again....

Ugh I’ll just keep it.

Totally agree.
Drop the skx013 in a draw as you'll pull it out again in a year or two.

Not going to lie. I think I have had 6 maybe 7 SkXs in my time. They kinda suck... but they are pretty great.

Not that I need another money pit, but here I am... Used to wear a watch in my teen years which was a birthday gift from a family member.

Looking at some vintage watches. Has anyone here purchased from vintagewatchco.com.au ?

I like the look of this - https://vintagewatchco.com.au/seiko-premier.html

Worth the 675?

Would like to one day get a nice mechanical watch. Also love the look of a second hand which sweeps? instead of ticking around. Beautiful indeed

Thanks

If you have Facebook, join up to the Australian Watch Buy Swap Sell group. I've bought a few on there before and you will get a much better price than a shop.
I was spending too much time and money on there, so left the group.
... and deleted my Facebook account 😂

Just joined. WOW, some crazy prices for a watch indeed

Yea that sweep does it for a lot of people
Chrono24 is first step in regards to price research. Generally you can find watches a little cheaper outside.

Seiko is a cult brand, not sure about this particular example thou.

Thanks for the link to chrono24. I'll have a look

@Gimli after a while you start thinking dropping 10 large on a watch is a reasonable proposition.

Sure I could find a way to justify a 5 figure watch LOL

About to spend a similar amount on a new desktop computer, which given todays technological advancements, will be obsolete within a few years... vs a watch which will last lifetimes

Brb, Rolex

@Gimli

reg Rolex.
Good luck finding one. Apparently there has been a global shortage for the last few years.

Rolex are the new diamonds?
Mate. It getting to the point you can throw money at the dealers just for them to talk to you. Popular pieces go to favoured clients with pre-existing relationship.
Or you can find a pile of them at grey dealers at twice rrp.
Not sure about diamonds thou.

The supply of both Rolex and diamonds are artificially regulated to maintain price. Kinda gross.

Now the Tudor blackbay 36 is tickling my fancy
