This replated one should have years more service in it - certainly my lifetime!

Well I got a parcel in the post today from WA it is a cigar box to store my straights in. This one is perfect as it has a tray in it to separate the cigar tubes that the cigars came in.

What a great idea. Looks perfect!

hahaha ... It seems we have very similar tastes in razors @Mark1966 :)

Wanted one of these Rover bowls

I just posted about these in another thread. Picked one up on Aliexpress for a few dollars a while back as part of my constant and never ending search for the perfect bowl. The lather that it generates is insane... and it contains the lather really well.... I think its the perfect size (there were 2 sizes on Aliexpress, i bought the smaller sized version) but i was a bit worried that the big bumps might rip up my brushes. Do you think that is a valid concern?

Now i just need to get my act together and sort out the pic hosting thing so that i can join in the fun over here. This "work from home" has not been good to my wallet. Approx 40+ parcels incoming over the next few weeks :)

Apologies if I was bidding against you!

Hahaha ... That REALLY made me laugh. :) But it was a VERY gentlemanly comment - thank you :)

I suspect that you already have many of the items that i have purchased over the last month. But i did collect some of my "grail" razors much faster than i anticipated. Some of the bidding was pretty aggressive, but i suspect it was those damn yanks not wanting to part with some of their treasures!

@AussieTanker Mate! we will have to throw in the Terriers to retrieve you from that rabbit hole. Looks like you are digging your way to China.
I was a bit nervous about the pic posting originally but got over it with an imgur account.
First few pics posted public by mistake and some idiots made stupid comments but other than that it has been an easy process.

Glad I stayed out of that one.

Got it. I think that i used to use Flickr back in the day. Probably still have an account there ... if only i can remember the password! I am sure there are some instructions on here somehwere as to which ones are acceptable and which are not. I will hunt that info down first. If Flickr is not on it or i cant access my old account anymore i will use the one you recommended. Thank you :)

To help new members further some threads are also in development in the Help Section on
  • Posting Pictures here (you need to link from a hosting site)
  • Creating Conversations (this forums version of a private message – look in your Inbox in the top right hand corner of the page)
In the meantime can we say that photos, of any quality, are encouraged but not essential. We don't host images directly on the forum. You will need to host on sites like Flickr or Imgur and use them to generate a BBCode link, see instructions for Flickr and Imgur respectively. Alternatively you can use services like TinyPic, use 'IMG Code for Forums & Message Boards' or Postimage, use 'Hotlink for forums' to generate links. In all cases it is helpful to resize images with the last two sites recommending 640*480 for forums

....

Glad I stayed out of that one.

Nah, very restrained nowadays. The $A against the $US is not good and with postage AND GST it all adds up to lower bids!

Gee whiz!

The $US125 razor with (PayPal) exchange rate, eBay Global Shipping Program and GST = $A280 to my door :(

Glad I'm not doing this sort of thing too much any more ...

New stuff arrived today from Beard and Blade

Phoenix and Beau imperial rum soap and the matching A/S

And TOBS platinum soap puck

And Frank Shaving pure badger brush

I also scored an old razor from a guy on Facebook nearby selling a bunch of gear he doesn’t use

The razor is a W. Jno. Baker of Hunter st Sydney made in Sheffield by someone else that I am unsure of, it is in very good condition and will hopefully sharpen up nicely and be a smooth shaver.

I also got an Omega puro tasso brush that I think is also pure badger or best badger not sure how to tell as I’ve never had badger brushes until today

pretty stoked!! The imperial rum smells awesome and is a nice soap and A/S

W. Jno. Baker was a famous cutler based in Sydney.

"The firm of W. Jno. Baker of Sydney was founded in 1888, and is described as the biggest Australian mail-order knife firm of the twentieth century. He marketed a vast variety of multi-blade pocket knives and cutlery items. It was located at the ‘House of Steel’, #3 Hunter Street in Sydney. In its 1927 catalogue the company promised to ship post-free if the remittance was included in full with the order. The company claimed that the design of knives offered were the result of special knowledge of Australian requirements combined with good steel and workmanship. Knives were produced either in London or Sheffield, and there is unsure evidence that the company produced knives in Sydney."

Thanks @Mark1966 you dug that up quickly I’m impressed!! It is in really good shape and the guy has another one that is not so clean but still respectable, I’m headed back in a week or two to pick up some more blades so I might see if I can pick the second one up too
