AusFarce or AusFantastic?

I have noticed that mail items posted in September are taking 2.5 - 3 weeks to be delivered in Melbourne, even for local delivery. Making full allowance for the mail volume and the temporary reduction in staff until 29 September, three weeks for local delivery is hard to understand. From what I know, I can only surmise the following:
  • Items posted for delivery in Melbourne that were lodged prior to 28 September and which have not yet been delivered are taking 2.5 - 3 weeks or more to be delivered;
  • Items posted for delivery in Melbourne that were lodged after 29 September are/have been delivered at close to normal time;
  • Therefore there must be a mountain of items that Auspost is holding;
  • Mail posted after 29 September is being given a higher priority than the older pending items.
I have customers who have placed two orders a week apart. The second order has been delivered while the first order has not been delivered, hence the above suppositifoons.

That must be really frustrusting for you as a business owner. The uncertainty of where your customers deliveries are, and the lack of reply when asking Auspost where the the delivery is, only to given a big no response from them.

I'm sure I can speak for all of your customers when I say we don't hold it against you, it's obviously out of your hands.

I posted 2 x Express parcels Friday morning: CBR-SYD & CBR-MEL with both arriving today, which was a surprise. :)

Although the parcels were sent Express, your experience is consistent with my suppositions above. If posted after 29 September delivery time is either normal or close to it. If posted before, well lots of luck! :rolleyes:

Nowhere to complain. I took a screenshot of this before the Third Reich Post pulled it. There were some serious Ausfarce stories to read.

The only option now is the Commonwealth Ombudsman for complaints. I guess they would be pretty busy.

Or you could forward the complaints to the ACCC I think? otherwise I'm not sure

Nope. I've got Two parcels "coming" first one lodged last Tuesday 6 Oct hadn't moved all week, no scans at Chullora, nothing, I think it's coming from Western Sydney. Suddenly it is in Tas and will probably arrive at the local post office today.

Second one lodged on Friday and not showing any movement from Lakes Entrance.

Is one week - six business days - from Western Sydney to Hobart (assuming it arrives today) so much longer than the usual delivery time? I would love to have one week delivery times from Melbourne to Melbourne let alone from interstate. The second one is so far only two business days from lodgement and Auspost is not updating the full tracking as it formerly did. It can go from an interstate distribution centre to 'out for delivery' in another state with nothing in between. All that I can say at the moment is I am certain that it is not possible to be certain when Auspost will deliver any given parcel.

Ok boomer

One week - SEVEN business days is probably average at the moment from Sydney to anywhere in TAS. Melbourne is usually a bit quicker, but not always. Many traders reported Melbourne as a black hole for parcels even before the flu intervened. Express post is now usually 2 days from any of the Eastern states. (They used to manage next-day delivery even with that stretch of water to cope with.)

I've had lots of international packages get stuck at Chullora NSW where they tend to get ticketed with different tracking numbers (which sort of defeats the purpose).

The bottom line for local post is to pay up for express if I'm in a hurry, otherwise be prepared for a long wait and don't complain about it.

Any impression I might have had that things were settling down in the postage world has been squelched today: the MyPost app this morning said my express-posted package from B&B "is expected to arrive on Tue 13 Oct", and now says "was expected to arrive...". Maybe that's progress. It never used to do that.

Meanwhile, the package appears to be propping a door open at Oakleigh, Vic. Sigh :rolleyes: maybe management needs another bonus for a job well done.

Well my second package from Planet Express consolidated is due for delivery in 2 days, that would be 5 days total. Let's see how Fed Ex priority goes. Cost wise they are cheaper than DHL express. Hopefully I can give them a thumbs up. I was assured by Fed Ex that only economy postage is offloaded to Auspost.

A new record. I ordered a small led lamp from Perth that was received by Auspost in Perth on 10 September. It arrived at Auspost Melbourne in the AM of 18 September. It was delivered in the PM yesterday, i.e. 26 days after it arrived in Melbourne. The previous record was 17 days for a local Melbourne delivery but I already have another local delivery to me that is currently 20 days and counting. Please note that this is consistent with my suppositions in post #580 that appalling delays have occurred with mail items for delivery in Melbourne posted in September before 29 September, not later.

Is Planet Express sending alcohol based aftershaves by air freight? AFAIK Fedex does not knowingly carry such items.

@rhodes96
Hmmm, I just checked. The relevant USPS regulations are here. The relevant quote (337.1) is:
The excepted quantity provision is applicable to domestic mail only, and its use is prohibited for international shipments or APO/FPO/DPO mail. The excepted quantity provision can be used in domestic air or surface transportation (highway, rail, or vessel).

This accords with my understanding and, it appears, with the major shaving supplies vendors in the U.S.A. IATA regulations also prohibit carriage of this of product (Class 3 PG II) so I don't know how Planet Express can do this but hey, if it works, good for you.

:banghead::banghead::banghead: F :muted::muted::muted: EN! Aussie Post my package was supposed to arrive at my parcel locker last Friday, has arrived at Alexandrine today, package will be delivered to my local parcel locker unit Wednesday or Thursday.
