Rosie day today :)

Well its been a week straight of the WR2 to test the waters as a daily shaver and no worries with that. In saying that I do find that when you shave every other day the hairs seem to grow back a bit slower. Must be due to having more hairs to cut, as this is quite an efficient razor while retaining its legendary wolf smoothness

Thank you - but I never left, always here, just more in the background ;)
Welcome back. :) I see you've been seduced away from your lycanthropes by the Blutt. Good to see :D
Thank you...not quiet sure if I have been seduced yet though :)
Thank you!
Olive oil as a post shave sounds oily lol never considered this.. does it absorb into the skin or does it leave a greasy film?
@TomG is of course correct - I love my EVOO post shave...and I have tried many different oils/butters...

As @SpeedyPC correctly said, it absorbs quiet quickly in your skin, if done correctly.

I just use ~3 drops with similar amount of water in my hands. I then rub my hands together to create an emulsion, and work the emulsion into my face.

Wonderful plumb face feel and this is my go to year round - even more so in the hot and dry Adelaide summer months.

If I have very dry skin (sometimes in winter), I use home made Shea butter instead, which we always have at home, as it is my wife's go to moisturizer year round...

Until yesterday, it had been a while since I last used MW soap. I had almost forgotten how well it performs. It takes a bit of work, but it's worth it.

You need to roughly do this for at least a week to be able to see a huge improvement, otherwise, YMMV.

Adelaide then Melbourne for the past 10 days.
Caught up with parents, went skiing at Mountain Lake and hiked Arthur’s Peak all while enjoying lots of good food.
Packed the Focus’ Slim Al for travelling because I have only used it once since purchase and wanted to get better acquainted. Fortunately (or not) I went straight for the straights and have not needed to transition through shavettes. Only using the straight on weekends allows plenty of time for honing, stropping and maintenance and the edge lasts forever.

Did not pack blades because carry-on luggage only and knew Wilkies are available from Woolworths or Right Price, and thought I had left a pack at parents place. If I did leave a pack could not find them and could not justify $12 on 10 Wilkies, so went without a shave for a week. Man was I hanging out. Finally went to this barber on Elgin St for a traditional shave and haircut and it was the best $$$ spent on the trip.

Still trying to acquaint myself with Focus Slim Al

SOTD – THURS 4 AUG 2022
Aussie Wednesday shave on Thursday with “All Body Soaps” Solid Shave Soap - Evergreen, a Tallow based soap. All Body Soaps is an Australian Etsy store selling natural bath soaps, bath salts, shave soaps, etc. Evergreen scent: “Masculine scent Patchouli, Lemon Rind, Rosemary, Bergamot.” Soap ingredients: Shea Butter, Stearic Acid, Tallow, Coconut Oil, Glycerin, Castor Oil, Sodium Hydroxide, Potassium Hydroxide, Distilled Water, Essential Oils

Shave Result: The Solid Soap is firm but pliable so I sliced off 1.7gm piece and squashed it into my lathering bowl, then used my normal build method to produce medium density creamy lather. The lather gave excellent all round performance, a great economical soap that I rate a solid Tier 2 performer. The scent was a lovely masculine blend, with a dominant earthy Patchouli aroma with a lemony background, scent strength 6/10. Overall an easy going DFS with the Leaf razor.

Been a long time since I’ve done a DE headshave - but after watching a video today from Cris at Another Cut Above I thought I’d give it a go.

Pre-shave:- Shower
Brush:- Grizzly Bay w/ Fanchurian knot
Soap/Aftershave:- B&M Seville
Razor: Blacklands - Blackbird
Blade: Gillette 7o’clock Shadow
Topped up: Leaf Razor + Gillette 7 o’clock shadow

Feels good to be back - but an awkward shave. Quite a few little nicks… and a whole lot of arm ache lol. Ended up doing a second pass with the Leaf just to tidy things up and get that BBS feel.

Forgotten how much I love the smell of B&M Seville - it was the first soap I bought and 3 years on it’s still going strong. No issue getting a good lather - and it left a nice slick feeling afterwards.

RR JAWS
Wizamet
Zenith 27mm Unbleached Boar
Tabac Soap / Splash
Olive Oil + water

After 7 days straight ATG shaving with the WR2 1.25 I decided to take the JAWS out for a run last night and really test this olive oil mixture as recommended by @alfredus and @SpeedyPC. It has only been one day and I dont want to get ahead of myself but the results were quite impressive.

The WTG and XTG passes with the JAWS + Wizamet + tabac lather were heavenly but after the third ATG pass I felt I had gone a touch too far and honestly thought the past 8 days shaves had finally caught up with me. I was quite red around the neck and tender on the face and felt I would be paying the price, but have to say I have woken today without any issue at all.

After the shave I proceeded with the recommended 3 drops of Olive oil + 3 drops of water, made the emulsion and applied to the face. This tiny amount didn't seem to go to far once applied to my face so I added another 3+3 mix, and possibly due to my compulsive behaviour added another 5+5 drops mix :)

At this point I had obviously applied too much and the face was quite oily but decided to wait and see what happened. After approx. 30mins the vast majority oil was absorbed into the face but I still had a slightly greasy feel and applied a healthy dose of Tabac Splash to sort that out. The alcohol splash certainly gave me some feedback and took care of the remaining oil film.

Today my face feels real nice, supple and without soreness so this may well be a big winner for me. I'll keep this up all week but maybe tone down the dosage a little :)

Our health professionals are wonderful, our health system less so. A night in the ED is not my idea of an ideal date night ...
