Hi laddies,

I already posted this elsewhere but I though my Australian friends should know about it, there is glass bottles of Aqua Velva in Spain! On further research I found out that there was 2 companies owning the Aqua Velva brand, Combe Incorporated produce & sell it simply as Aqua Velva in the Americas while Sara Lee owns the rights in Europe and sell it as Williams Aqua Velva. I was quite confused when I found out about that stuff as I was under the impression that Aqua Velva was world widely sold in shatterproof bottles since 2010 & moreover that Combe Incorporated was the sole owner of the brand, well I'm glad that I was wrong as I liked the old glass bottles very much. It's a big world out there, who knows how many shaving products there is to discover : )

I ordered one bottle of 200ml, 6.20$ + 11$ shipping to Canada. It will be a one time purchase as I will refill the glass bottle with the American Aqua Velva that I can purchase at Walmart for 4.50$ :D

What's Aqua Velva smell like? It's always popping up here and there in North American SOTD's but not sure if you can buy it DownUnder.

That's almost cheaper to buy than it is to send a sample!

I was under the impression that Aqua Velva was universal, my gran-father was using it, his father was using it, it's almost

Aqua Velva is one of those aftershaves as old as Methuselah, it has been around in every drugstores of the Americas since the golden age of wet shaving. It's nothing fancy but it has a pleasant smell, it has notes of peppermint, lavender, vetiver, lemon, bergamot & other stuff that I cannot pin point.

Here's a few vintage commercial:

Thanks! That's all super helpful. I see all these aftershaves around but never tried half of them. That's what happens when you have a father who uses an electric and no aftershave.

I remember my dad wet shaving when I was younger, but I don't remember anything exotic either - just your everyday old spice and the memory of that aroma is enough to stop me wanting to try it.
In the UK, and especially here in Aus the choices appear to have been a lot more limited than in the Americas until internet shopping came along.

Hmm, buy the more expensive glass bottle, or the cheaper sports bottle ?
BTW, there is an option to buy 6 at a time, is there 5 other parties interested in trading for a bottle ?

Sports or regular @borked ? Maxims says the sports one has more menthol does that come in a 6 pack?

Before anything happens, I've no interest to step upon toes here, so is a purchase with a view to trade a breach of the 'group buy' hiatus @Monsta_AU ?
I've also an eye upon an Aussie based supplier of Barbicide, yet they're only selling a 64oz (1.89L) bottle, way too much for me and $65 a bottle is not cheap either.

I purchased a 64oz of Barbicide, about 2 years ago, and I still have half the bottle left. About the price....65$ is genuine robbery, I bought mine at Sally's beauty for 17.99$ and the price hasn't changed since. Barbicide is good but there is alternative out there that are doing the exact same job, there is Mar-v-cide, Cavicide, Lucaside, Mundo etc etc With a bit of research, I'm sure you'll be able to find a stuff available in Australia that won't cost you your first born.

I bought 3x 6.7oz of the Ice Sport, yesterday

Cooling effectiveness:
A/V Ice Blue (Aka The Original) cool more.
A/V Original Sport cool less and has a citrusy/pine scent.
A/V Ice Sport cool less than the 2 above, is enriched with vitamin, clean scent.

There is also the A/V Musk but I never tried it.

About the European version, I heard it was a lighter version of the Original but still very much the same.

I got a smaller lot than that of Barbicide on eBay a few years back. You dilute with 32 parts of water from memory so it goes a LONG way ...

I seem to have completely misunderstood what you were saying before. I felt sure you had said one of the sport versions was more cooling.
@borked if this is the case I don't think any of the AVs would have enough menthol for you.

Not at all, private agreements & trades are still fine. Just don't lead people into thinking that as a group buy it will mean they can save 30% on what the going rate is.

For things like blades and even some soaps, local postage eats up the savings generally.

If you can show that you have scored a deal that you can show that it will result in a reasonable percentage discount to members, them PM me and I will approve it as an official group buy. In most cases this will be a '30% off for a purchase of x units' with then posting directly. Obviously, larger single destination orders might get postage economy of scale to qualify too, but I would expect that to be something like 100 soaps or 25 razors kind of level.

"When an imported sells us a product e.g. OPI Nail Polish; they bring it in and sell it to us for X amount. They tell us we need to sell it for $9.95 to salons. They tell us we must enforce our salon/retail clients to sell for RRP$19.95.

At any stage they catch wind that these pricing isn’t met, we lose our accounts.
This is with EVERY single brand we carry that we purchase through the Australian counterpart.

All well-known or reputable brands are done this way.
"
MAP b/s + Australia Tax, because freight to us is prohibitively expensive, so much so, you would be excused for thinking lunar delivery would be cheaper after the rhetoric of manufacturers, importers, distributors, wholesalers and retailers carry on with.

Yeah, I get that feeling as well, yet at least if others are interested/like the product, they've a link to stock up :)

Thanks for the clarification (y)

The dream is over... The seller contacted me, according to Canadian post regulation, he cannot ship aftershave in glass bottles over 50ml :-(
