Not exactly on topic BUT wouldn't this make an amazing aftershave scent?

Petrichor - the blood of the stone

What am I talking about? Read this article - a year or so old now but I've only just stumbled across it.

I'm positive Will @Barrister & Mann did a soap based upon this scent profile.

He did, and it will be returning in Spring 2017 :)

@Mark1966's article is on a different aspect of petrichor, and was very interesting. You can buy various grades of attar oils, some quite cheaply from my googling - procuring a pure oil would be the tricky part as Indian suppliers are notoriously dubious (Mysore Sandalwood for instance).

The scent is most commonly obtained in perfumes by creating tricky accords using Geosmin, carrot seed, humus or terrasol absolutes. Some of the absolutes are very expensive i.e. Geosmin in particular.

You can buy Geosmin in 1% or 3% dilutions however they are not usually sufficient to capture the Petrichor note that everyone immediately recognizes.

It can also be done with certain fragrance oil combinations for substantially less...

OK, well haven't I shown my ignorance!

Trust you to know this! ;)

Pity it will only be available again in Spring 2017 - when I'll be on sabbatical!

Should we get @todras his own banner "Master Perfumer" or some such? Im sure he knows the correct word!!

You really add an enormous amount of perfume lore and knowledge to the site @todras - keep it up and thanks for the opportunity to learn.(y)
I actually love the "storm scent" - do you recall what the B&M fragrance name was?

Actually I think I found it -"Petrichor" - Duh
