I grabbed a dodgy Black Beauty today for $5. A soak in washing liquid freed up the adjuster. I then experimented a bit by popping it in a solution of sodium percarbonate which promptly removed the finish.

@khun_diddy , bloody heck mate - i thought you'd have seen that recent horror story someone posted up as a lesson in not to go dunking your razor in various chemical solutions. Dunno what you hoped the sodium percarbonate would have done but it looks like you now have a 'Bottle Blonde Super Adjustable'! Might be a world first.
I agree with @bald as it doesn't look too bad....in fact I'd think you'd be best off giving it another dunk or two to even out the grips colour nicely. Absolute worst case scenario it could be a good option for coating/painting but depends on how you can get the mechanicals going. Give it time, a few overnight soaks in something mild are far more effective than blitzkrieging with something full on for instant results.
For just a tad more than a takeaway coffee it'll pay for itself in amusing you for a few hours. ;-)

The reason why I was happy to 'experiment' was that it's one of the Black Beauties where the bottom knob drops down. It'll shave fine but mechanically it's buggered.

My favourite scented soap. The Anne Bonny. So nice being reunited with my girl. Can't wait to get her in a lather. Also keen to get that aftershave splashed on. Three guesses what my SOTD tomorrow will be.
Parcel 2:
That's it. I have to admit I got it bad. Real bad. Big thanks go out here to the other @Mark (Jeez Marks are just legends!) Poor @Mark showed the patience of a saint getting the order for my first stones right. So bought this line-up locally - from Knives and Stones. Thoroughly recommended! James Zhang was an exemplary seller! So no excuses now...
...well except I have to actually learn to hone.

Agree with you wholeheartedly @Dale.Whiley ....except Anne Bonny IS my JGS.....as some of us aren't lucky enough to have supplies of that Mullumbimby goodness in our custody
