Someone posted on OCAU about using olive oil to shave with.

I guess you can use oils as pre-shave, to soften the whiskers.

It isn't something that I would do, personally.

Has anyone else used oil and what were the results?

I tried a Jack Black shave oil sample. Not a pleasant experience. I didn't find it a smooth shave and it was messy to clean up my razor.

Olive oil is thicker and heavier, personally I couldn't think of anything worse to shave with, but it can be done.

Yeah, oil sounds messy.

A lot more cleaning up afterwards.

I think I can safely say it isn't for me.

I shaved with oil a few years back (shave oil, not olive oil) with carts not DE.

I found that even after washing there was a thin film of oil on my face all day, and my pillow ended up getting pretty dirty from sleeping with an oily face.

I haven't tried since, maybe I could've washed my face better - the soaps and creams available are nicer than oil anyway, why bother...

Hello everybody!

I know my dad likes to use shave oil, but he's a cart man. I'm yet to convert him over.

Get him a wet shave deluxe kit; he will love it!

Shave oil for me conjures up images of medieval vikings and saxons with oiled beards and big messy complexions...it's not a pretty mental picture lol.

Maybe I read too much Gemmell.

I'm happy with the creams for now.
