Hey all

I'm up at in Katoomba for the week. On the way up I stopped off at a few antique shops.

My first find was a bunch of old blades. $10 for the lot. I'm not sure if that was a good deal or not... Here they are.

My second find was a cracker. A G2 Fatboy, a 40s tech with a nice fat handle, and some old blades. $45 for the lot. Here is a photo

Still heaps of antique shops to go too!

Someone who knows lots about old blades, are any of these a good find?

Here were some old razors at one place I didn't really want. Let me know if I should go back and get them:

Let me know if there is something in particular you are looking for, and I'll keep an eye out for you.

Isn't it fun to go hunting in the wild?

I think that the blades might be old carbon steel ones and prone to rusting = un-usuable but experts will chime in.

The Fatboy and Fat-Handled Tech are a great buy!

The Valet leave behind

The second razor with bent teeth and 'British made' stamped on it - leave behind

The third razor is a service set - an OK razor but gives you nothing the Fat Handled Tech doesn't.

Happy hunting

Yeah, they are carbon steel, and some look rusting. Hadn't planned on using them, just cool old graphics.

Just found this. It's definitely not 1950s. I'm thinking 1910s.

Thoughts?

Case is plain, but has made in England on the bottom, which is weird because the razor is made in Canada.

I've never found an old type Gillette before. I'm tempted. Would be a nice addition to my collection. It's possibly 1920s or 1910s. Teeth are in good condition, as they are fatter and triangular.

Just picked up a 60s tech. $15. Nothing special, but it is still in its case, which is rare. I don't have any cases.

Ball end Old Type - if Made in Canada then the usual serial number dating will not work but your guess is probably in the ballpark.

The case looks like a common generic aftermarket variety.

Hey @MrT ! I'm also up in the Mountains (Katoomba) for a week. And now I know why I haven't found anything in the antique shops I've passed through!!!! Aiyah! Bad timing. (Or good timing for you! [emoji6] And for me too actually, since I'm on Sabbatical! [emoji51])

Whoa! I heard from the staff in the antique shop that someone came in before me asking about de razors. So it was you! My Fatboy find was in Hazelbrook.

Are you in Katoomba for CMS Summer School by any chance?

The beauty of old carbon blades, is they can be buffed/stropped, so even if rusty or dull, they possibly can be used still, if you've the inclination.
