Aldi Special

That label looks familiar, similar to another Glen something, the name escapes me, if it is similar it will be peaty, full strength with a slight iodine aftertaste, should be quite nice. Aldi pump out some great grog at great prices, pity Townsville does'nt have one.

An enjoyable Grants blend, that for the price, can't be beat.
Seriously, the youngest age in this is 30 years, it's from a reputable house and is a fifth of the price to the next cheapest 30 y.o!

Speaking as a Scots-born Aussie and descendant of another branch of that GRANT family, there's no such thing as a bad Whisky, unless it's a whiskEy :wtf: !

Sacrilege, as a diluted Irishman, WhiskEy, especially Bushmills, (eyes cloud over, hearts skips an ever so slight beat) will top MOST whisky any day.

OK, well on 'special' today at $99.99 -

If any are left when I get home to Canberra I might grab one.

They also have Johnnie Walker Gold Reserve for $69.99 -

Not sure if that is of any interest to people?

I like johnnie walker but if their standard lineups I find the gold to be a bit meh.. I think Black for the value and green for the taste do it for me.

I still have last years bottle.

And the winner is ....

Well, despite mixed reviews I was going to give it a go - until I noticed that Dans and First Choice had Yamazaki Distillers Reserve on special for $99. Ended up driving to a couple of stores and think I got the last bottle in Canberra.

So maybe next time on the Aldi 30 YO.

I quit after my first wife died of alcohol-related illness. Kind of makes a bloke an all or nothing person!

Very sorry to hear that. My brother has been in and out of hospital with similar issues for years now. I know it's going to kill him unless he can get a handle on it himself - an outcome that looks increasingly remote. Nothing anyone else can say or do makes any difference.

I must say that experience has turned me right off the stuff...
