We know that the Sydneysiders meet at the Riverview, the Westralians meet at the Sail and Anchor but the Canberrans are going one better, we will be on the water ...

When: Saturday 13th January 2018, 3:45pm for a 4:00pm launch (please don't be late)
Where: GoBoat Canberra, Wharf 2, Trevillian Quay, Kingston ACT. Google Maps Reference
What to bring: Food, drink, sunscreen etc for the hour on the lake.
Afterwards: On our return at 5:00pm we will adjourn to one of the pubs / cafes by the waterfront.

Confirmed are:
@lerenau
@Ferret619
@mark123abc0
@Mark1966

We have space for up to eight people on the boat so others are more than welcome to join us - I will need to have details beforehand however to ensure a place is available.

Other Canberrans, locals like @stillshunter, people with a connection like @Pbgoose, previous guests like @tullfan or @borked, our head honcho @Monsta_AU or indeed any P&C member is welcome - but first in best dressed for those four other spots!

@Mark1966 brilliant idea and fun day ahead.

Isn't there a policy not to have the executive all together on a single transport vessel, incase of a major incident? God forbid that the boat goes down taking the whole P&C admin team with it :(

Actually very interested in popping down for a Canberra Meetup as a great crew down there (pun).
Won't know until early next week. So get in fast Gents. ;)

It is the policy of the administration not to comment in regards to "on-water matters".

We have @Drubbing as our 'off-site' backup, well, WA based, that is close to offsite ;)

You would be more than welcome!

I unfortunately will not be able to attend due to prior family engagements but I’ll be there in spirit.

Have a rum on the “high Canberrian seas” for me

Seems not :(

'We want you to have a safe and fun experience, so only bring a reasonable quantity of alcohol. This means:
  • One bottle of wine per two persons; or
  • Two bottles or cans of pre-mixed spirits, beer or cider per person, and
  • No straight spirits are permitted'
So no rum ration for the crew :(

I'm sure people don't need to be taking straight spirits if you are only going out on the water for an hour or two even if it is the ACT.....surely...:cautious:
Canberra, a place where space is closer to it than the ocean... or civilisation!

I thought this was a sailor's right?

Can you give a ruling @the_shaving_sailor? Are all the crew entitled to a rum ration?

Sadly my good sir that tradition is done and dusted.

The last ever run ration was issued on Friday the 31st July 1970......Black Friday
:,(

Now it’s 2 cans of beer, per day, perhaps

Captain has to approve a beer issue and even then we have to pay for it. Limited to two cans of full strength beer or premix and only if your not going on watch.

Sad day indeed - a couple of cans of beer is just not the same!

Seems I might have little joy arguing with GoBoat then :(

the two cans aren't guaranteed either! I've done six month deployments and only seen one beer issue.

Well next time I see you I will buy you one as a grateful citizen :)

Annnd here floweth the itchy green pants....

My Captain has spoken and I'll be scrubbing the decks of her ship that weekend.
Nevermind I am determined to get to Canberra for a sneaky beer this year, it will happen. Enjoy your rum rations without me.

OK folks, posting again as a reminder as this is TOMORROW!-
