The general watch talk discussion

I've just ordered an Invicta 9094ob (like the 8926ob, only blue instead of black).
I've needed a beater watch for a while, and for $66 delivered via Amazon it's a no brainer with a nh35a (Seiko) movement and 200m water resistance, even if it is an Invicta.

Nothing wrong with invicta IMO
People love bashing them online but the value is fantastic.
I hear the bracelets arnt great but that’s true of many brands including Seiko.
The one thing I don’t love is the cyclops, but I do love the counter balance on the second hand.
Great looking watch bud! Congratulations

So I should stop looking for an Omega and get an Invicta!

Nice looking piece mate :)

Apparently the cyclops is fairly easy to remove diy - and will be something I will look to do.
I'm guessing as this seems to be the 8926 in all but colour, all of the other modifications people have made to the 8926 should also be doable here. There's nearly 800 pages of them here: http://forums.watchuseek.com/f71/lets-see-those-invicta-8926-mods-895244.html
I'm tempted to not only remove the cyclops, but also chuck a sterile dial in and cover up the date complication.

Oh and Aliexpress super engineers bracelet will soon be on my shopping list http://forums.watchuseek.com/f71/chinese-super-engineer-3503138.html

OK, well I made a fatal mistake today and wandered into the Omega 'Boutique' in Sydney. The Seamaster Diver 300m Co-axial 41mm calibre 2500 is magnificent.

In blue it is great -

In black probably more so -

Now to find one at, well you know, a fraction of the $5,300 asking price ...

Ugh if there’s a buy one get one free deal we can go splitsies

If only ....

I was surprised while I was waiting when the guy looking before me asked for a discount ...

He was told that they don’t discount!

Mwah ahaha

@Mark1966 is it just Bond watches that you like?
If so, this Casio almost fits the bill

(a rip-off of the Seiko long discontinued..)
This is much better than the Omega if your only metric is maintaining time and number of alarms.

5 alarms!
But seamaster is good for 300m water vs Casio royals 100m.. making it also better.
This is gonna take some mathsing.

Even some cracking ones available purchased less than a year ago!

Oh dear, this will be hard. Might have to sell some razors ...

Don't know if you've got time for that @Mark1966. You should just go out now and buy the black one, and then a blue one as a backup.
Just in case.

I've heard a rumour Omega are going out of business, so you need to get on the gravy train before it pulls out of the station.

I've heard those rumours too - will get on to it straight away ...

Omega is going nowhere. There is a bit of a shakeup with AD's and boutiques closing, but the brand - no way.

The only brand with an issue right now is Fortis, and unless they sell the company and designs to another company, then the Cosmonauts will be harder to find at some point.

That's about all that's decent and working these days (got a G-Shock for the kayak but hardly wear it these days)

I'll post plenty once the new crystal has been bought and installed, the curveature of the glass matches the slope of the bezel perfectly, pictures I've seen look fantastic!
