I’m am absolute bag tragic, constantly looking for the perfect pack and I think I have found as good as I’ll get, to date I have tried packs from;
Osprey
Camelbak
5.11 (rush 12)
Random no name
Leather messenger things
And have landed on the 5.11 Lima and am loving it so far, not to overtly tactical but well built enough that it has actually lasted more than a week with me.

No, but I'll be checkin' out the 5.11 bags. I've got a couple of pairs of their boots and they're great. I can't believe you don't have the boots with the 'tactical knife holder'!? I bought them for work as they are high sided, side zip lace up boots which give really good ankle support which I need as I've snapped tendons rolling ankles in the past.

I need to kill my two pairs of Dr Martin first...
My tactical knife holder is my pocket

Also my hand is my high speed low drag knife holder.

Why not get a Gladstone bag?

I used to travel very lightly, using your typical school ~20L backpack around Asia, but then I got married and my wife found it impossible to onebag it.
She is slowly starting to come around to the idea though due to seeing how much quicker you can get through customs (in Darwin it's a nightmare when you arrive at 5:30am and then have to queue up for 1.5-2 hours to get through), and Jetstar managing to lose her luggage one trip - although funnily she did enjoy the shopping spree that allowed her.
As there are three of us now (and a 3 year old's clothes do not take up that much space), I have persuaded her that we could manage a trip to Asia with three carry on bags.
We now own
but now I am looking for a third bag, and I'm struggling to find a carry on bag that has the features/style I would like at a price I can justify. Chase Reeves (reviews a bag) youtube keeps on showing me fantastic bags, but at prices way beyond my means.

A few months ago I found a (what I presume to be) Chinese knockoff off of the Bobby anti-theft backpack at a local Op-Shop which I've been using as my daily carry. The bag looks ok there, but in practice I haven't liked using it much as the organisation really isn't that great. There a few nice hidden pockets on the back but I found I never used two of them, and mostly forgot about the 3rd one.

Yesterday I ordered a Crumpler Dry Red No.5 bag to replace it in one of the sales advertised on Ozbargain, and surprisingly, since it was sent from Melbourne, it arrived overnight to Darwin!
From first impressions, I like this one a lot more. There is a laptop pocket at the back of the pack (although as it is side open I will have to triple check the zips are done up), some internal organisation in the form of a pouch and a zippered pocket as well as a front pocket with lots more organisation. Ok so it may be 2013's newest great new backpack (so I'm a little late to the party), but at $59 (originally $245!) I'm quite impressed so far.

It's a little on the heavy side at 1.3KG unladen compared to modern backpacks, but feels very sturdy. The zips feel good quality (far nicer than on the Bobby), although they don't seem to offer any water resistance.

A crumpler is on my list, they are great bags

Mystery Ranch make great kit, I used to be a bag tragic when I was in the Army - now not so much. Got a nice leather man bag that does me for work and that’s about it now.

A couple of the Remote Dr's at work have cool hippie boho messenger bags for their laptop/tablet.
Made in Australia but I cannot remember brand name. Anybody have an idea what brand they might be?
