Can you buy the knots by themselves?
I'm not sure, yet emailing will get you the answer and I'm sure an Aussie handle maker would love the challenge of mounting one!

Might just be big enough!

Easy to mount. Just start with a fat handle blank, and drill a bloody big hole. Need a lotta glue though!

But please, no giant 75mm knots like TF Customs big green and burl hybrid. That's insane:ROFLMAO:

Yes, you can buy just the knot.
They are all made in China of course...just that some are better made.
I've read that they are a better quality knot than the Yaqi knots.

I'll see how the brushes go. They have 'Departed' according to todays email.
I have high hopes for the 28mm SilkSmoke, and will be ordering one next year. The SynBad is nice, but I'm sort of inclined to say the Yaqi 30mm Snow Leopard makes for a better brush, sort of like a bigger version of the Pony knot on your rainbow brush.

Thanks @Gargravarr for that.
I did ask Andrew (AP Shave Co) about what I wanted and I originally thought the SilkSmoke.
Andrew advised me to try the SynBad instead.
I face lather, and usually just dunk/swirl the brush into the soap tub when loading (yes, I know...I'm a soap heathen).
I guess that if someone scooped a wee bit of soap out of the tub and placed that in a bowl, then the knot choice might be different?
I do have a 26mm Snow Leopard, but prefer the 26mm Pony knot.
I could see me getting a 30mm Yaqi, but thought that 'this time' I would try another maker (just in case I was missing out on something).

I have a 26mm SilkSmoke fan knot waiting for the right handle and from what I've heard they're plenty dense and soft.

Indeed, and that's why I'm keen to try it. However, I won't make the mistake I did with my SynBad, namely setting the knot too deep. I read a consensus of opinion on other forums that it needed to be set way down to have sufficient backbone, but I found that even with a lot of "slop" in the fit of the socket, the knot was so dense it had trouble holding sufficient lather. The fibres need room to breathe.

Yay...they arrived today. My 2 APShave Co 28mm SynBad brushes.
Here's a comparison shot with my favourite brush...Yaqi 26mm Rainbow Pony knot.
I have given them both a nice soapy wash so they are not quite as bushed out as they were when dry.
I already think that the fan knot will be my new favourite. That's the blue handle one.
I may not even use the the bulb knot (red handle), but may yet just put it straight on to the BST.
No other reason than if the fan knot does what I want then the bulb knot won't be used.
For the same reason I have 2 new Yaqi 24mm brushes sitting here unused from new...I see no need to use them. Maybe time to BST them as well
The 2 new brushes look to have less loft than the Yaqi, but are certainly a wee tad 'fatter'.
No problems with the fit and finish. Both look great, and have a decent size handle.
