What do you have in the post right now?

Nuthin......Absolutely nuthin...... Oh, I've got something in the post which is being sent to GT. Does that count?

Nope, doesn't count.

I have nothing inbound right now either.

Nope. Tell me about her soaps...

https://www.queencharlottesoaps.com

I really liked the look of their range. Two I'm really interested in are Vostok and iced key lime. They have a big menthol hit apparently. Vostok is named after the coldest place on earth (or at least a very cold place).

The blurb--- (had me in for summer)

Named after the coldest place on Earth, Vostok is a face-freezing blend of ice-cold peppermint and blizzard-like blasts of sub-zero menthol. We do not believe there exists a colder shaving product.

Ingredients:
Water; saponified stearic acid; glycerin; saponified tallow, palm oil, olive oil, and coconut oil; aloe vera extract; essential oil; kaolin clay; menthol; phenoxyethanol and caprylyl glycol; vitamin E

Interestingly this is the ingredients list for the Vostok cream, which includes tallow as the third ingredient. Who was it that hadn't seen much tallow in creams?

They run the same fragrances in soap cream and balms

Since I ordered they have been excellent at keeping in touch, notifying me on the key points, order, processed, shipped and tracking.

They let you choose five flavours for a sample pack.

In soaps I got

First scent: Basilica
Second scent: Iced Key Lime
Third scent: Green Irish Tweed Type
Fourth scent: Vostok
Fifth scent: Queen Charlotte

In creams I got

First scent: Green Irish Tweed Type
Second scent: Cubano Breeze
Third scent: Esquire
Fourth scent: Fougère
Fifth scent: Vostok

So we'll see how it goes! I love samples.

Very interested in that Vostok stuff. I should get a membership to the forum so I can subscribe to this thread.

Subzero is on par with Vostok, add double the menthol (which is an option) and it should be akin to dipping your face in liquid nitrogen, whilst upon the dark side of the moon!

Enabling goes both ways, one New Dovo Bismarck on it's way.

Hooray! Step aboard brother, you'll never look back. Have you any experience with straights before?

That looks like a fine razor Borked! I love the detail on the blade. If it's new and sold as 'shave ready' it may not actually be ready to shave with. You can give it a try, and send it to oz to get a new definition of razor sharp if it's under performing

Unless it's from a trusted seller who is known to hone well, it's best to send it to Oz. If it's bought from a store, it's unlikely to be shave ready.

A mighty fine looking razor there @borked! [emoji106]

Is that really wise considering how soft you were with the R41 and the PMOC?

Says the man who never used either.

I'm yet to graduate to straights, yet have fully intended to.

And I've a confession...

straights.jpg

Top left is my Grandfathers Bengall.
Have cleaned it up and it may be a possible future shaver.

Below it is a NOS Wade & Butcher.

All the other ones with boxes are possible shavers once fully restored, from mainly Germany and a few UK.
The ones w/o boxes have seen better days, with broken scales, severe pitting etc and will be used as practice for honing/repining/replacing scales/restoring etc.

Most were rescued from garage/boot sales.

Wow! Confession time. Bengalls are awesome, though reasonable common here

That's ^^^ a lot of str8 razors for someone who doesn't use them... [emoji10]

I've got this in the post right now. But it's stuck in transit waiting for the feasting to die down in a few days...

Holy crap Borked... that is a big haul of straights.

A NOS W&B is worth a pretty penny let me tell you. I wouldn't be shaving with that just yet - someone may make you an offer on it which you don't want to refuse.

The pic is not the best but the Les Croix looks to be in excellent condition, and the WUG also looks to be extremely clean and low-use.

Knew there was a reason you're liquidating your DE's ;)

I'm not planning to use the W&B anytime in the near future, yet couldn't leave it in the wild either.
My plans are to experiment with the more rugged units, leaving the better condition one's for when I've a basic level of skill, both in preparation and use, so I can fully appreciate them.

After trying one in a pass around. For me this was the best board I have tried. Some of the best lather of any brush I have tried.
Probably just loose the graphics.
