A love of Harris Tweed products is one of my semi-secret quirks. Personally, a good Harris Tweed jacket embodies the same qualities I like about most of my interests:

-Timeless
-Over-engineered/made to last
-Quality materials
-Great at what it is designed to do

I currently own two jackets (will post photos if there are other tragic out there who would appreciate seeing them). I'm not ashamed to say both of these came from 'op shops' and were under $20 each. For that you get a warm, naturally waterproof and (in my opinion) timelessly fashionable jacket.

Both my current jackets are fairly 'loud' variations of Tweed, so I hope to pick up a more subdued variety sometime soon. Will also be picking up a hat or two while I'm at it (probably a 'bucket' and a Stornoway cap)

One day I would like own a Donegal Tweed item also, as these are meant to be of similar quality.

Are there any other fans out there?

I think you need to get together with Bodge - he has the Monocole and you the Harris Tweed - Of course if there happens to be any members who also are known to send lead pellats at flying birds I suggest you keep quiet as we have a certain moderator (g'day Drubbing) who gets all twitchy at the sh**ting side of things. Personally I thought the Monocole thread would have raised his blood pressure enough but I guess after destroying the most inventive post ever, he is sated for a while longer.

I let the monocle thing go, but we're sailing close to the wind with Tweed topics. If it gets to Leiderhosen, or cowboy chaps, I'm bringing out the big guns...

How old are you blokes?

I do have a thing for flat caps, as I do hail from Oldham, Lancs, but they still need to be 'Today'. Hard to find with my small noggin, and our only hat shop in the city now closing down.

Ah, I was wondering if I needed to put a disclaimer in my first post. I am certainly NOT a hipster. For one thing, I liked Tweed way before these strange people started being ironic and using Instagram.

Some of you are very strange people indeed.

This forum has gone downhill since you let me in.

Sigh, you open up to the world and this is what happens.

I see the general public is not yet ready to embrace us Tweed-wearing folk just yet
