Hello there

Honing would be something to do on a Saturday morning, probably a nice excuse for not mowing or taking the rest of the family to the shops... I like that ;)
I am more bothered by stropping which, if I understand correctly, one must do every time before using the razor.
Feather DX for when I am 50, straight for when I am 60. Deal !!!

There is no denying the ease of the disposable!

Stropping I suppose is not strictly necessary, but it does extend the life of the edge and keep things smooth. Post shave it also (probably) dries the edge removing and dead skin and what not.

It does add time to the same but you could get away with say only 20-30 laps after each shave if you wanted to skimp on it.

If you wanted to try it without a significant outlay, @Mark Has some Gold Dollar straights usually for $20 if I remember correctly honed and ready to go. They are cheap Chinese but still shave well and great in this application. You can pick up a strop for a similar amount, or make your own from some denim.

And after shaving as well, to thoroughly dry the edge.
Stropping is as easy as to learn and becomes a 'meditation' time eventually.
There are many videos on the subject or, if you want to, I could help with the journey.
