DC Shaving custom brush.
Made by Daniel Clevenger.
It has a White Feather Premium Synthetic Silvertip knot in it. Its not the best knot but definitely not the worst either. I think it will make a great candidate to be re knotted. Its a very springy knot with a bit of scritch. But the handle is a absolute work of art.

I can't imagine it will become a daily driver but I have seen that you can use an unmodified Gem blade, though I have yet too try one in it
You should get that Gem out. I will be trying this out tomorrow, maybe we will both see some blood

Okay @Sticky ... just had that Gem shave! A minor slice and a little weeper, but otherwise not bad. My technique must have improved since the last time I used it. A bit of experience with a slant DE and quite a bit lately with DE OC razors has obviously helped with the Gem. Quite a close 2-pass shave, too!

Good work @littleaussiebleeder . I think some of the Gems give some of the best shaves, which one were you using? I used the Star this morning, a couple of weepers for me to, a bit of technique still too learn.

A 1912 c/w brown Bakelite case. I have another but not quite as good as this beautiful one. This one is in immaculate condition and cost me $40 with case. I have my eye on a different one in a tiny second-hand farm bits and stuff shop out this way in the back of nowhere but at $100 I considered it a bit rich and dismissed it without another thought. It is grubby as but I might duck out there through the week and have another look if it's still there, of course! It is different to the 1912... quite a bit fancier in the filagree... but I can't seem to find exactly the same one on Google. You bugger, you have started another potential obsession with me!

The razor sounds interesting. For $100 it is very expensive, unless its a Streamline, though that would not have the filigree. It may be a Damaskeene, you could tell by looking under the cap, it would say "use only damaskeene blades" still not worth $100 unless it is a very rare open comb version. If it's an Ever Ready it could well be a 1914. It would have "patented March 17th 1914" on the back and "pull here" on the cap, as it opens differently.
Maybe you could just avoid the obsession. The 1912 is a great razor, not many better apart from......

Aw Mate... I doubt the bloke who owns the dump of a shop would have a clue at what a fair price would be! Probably heard that razors have increased in value and invented the hundred buck price tag. Probably no bugger within a hundred miles of him apart from me would be remotely interested in it! If I actually offered him thirty bucks he would probably jump at it! I looked at some damaskeene razors online but from memory it's not like them. I'm not even sure that it's a Gem. I'll go look this coming week... only 90 kilometres there and back!

Hah! That 90 kilometres there and back should have read each way!

Ha ha, well that's a long drive for a razor! I'd like to find a bargain in a second hand shop but I've looked in a few and never found a razor, never mind a bargain, it's the net for me.

Yes, especially for that razor! It didn't look all that good. Thing I'll give it a miss! I'll be out that way in a few weeks... who knows, it might still be there. I bought my nice Gem 1912 in an country antique shop.

It was literally 2 streets away from me and now it's back in NSW somehow..

Had to come down to the smoke yesterday for a couple of days for a specialist medical appointment today. While driving past an antique shop in a Newcastle suburb in the early arvo, I decided to stop and have a look. Got myself a great British-made Valet Autostrop Safety Razor Co. Ltd beauty in lovely condition for $25 no box. Shiny chrome and in great working condition. If only you could get blades! A beautiful little piece of machinery! Yes... you mongrel... you have got me sold now! I shaved again before I left home yesterday morning with one of the Gem 1912's... no nicks, weepers of burns. Not the best shave I've ever had, but certainly the noisiest! Think there is something seriously wrong with my SE slant OC shaving technique! That Gem blade literally sings!

welll, I got today a pif of cella block (from the 1 Kilo). Damn it, it smell on the zip bag as smashed fress almonds (nothing to do about more matured almonds, I have hasrvested probably about a Ton of almonds in spain and this smell cames from very young freshy almonds).
I will give several tries as the prerfomance is esxpected to be great, but the scent... Too strongo and not enjoible... I will leave itin the grden for some sceant cleaning a bit. Just hoping the local possum will don't get it, and if so, I whish it to leave and move to another neiburhoug and le us rest

Yes , those 1912s can certainly sing! Nice pick-up with the Auto strop, I've seen a few for sale but never tried one. Not being able to get the blades is a problem. I bet you could pick some NOS on the bay or, if you look on some forums, find how to modify a blade to try it out.

Leave it to air out for a bit. Cella starts out smelling very (too) strong but doesn't take long to get down to a nice and reasonable level if left to air out.
