  1. The second and third packages for this month:

Otoko Organics. A unique looking, clear, soaplike product (though apparently not an actual soap because it contains no saponified fats). Smell is mild and very vegetal.

APR - Suitably Attired Australian. Soap and Aftershave. Unfortunately the AS leaked in transit (as did the General Ledger) so the label is ruined and a fifth or so of the bottle is gone. The bin I disposed of the packaging into smells wonderful though!

APR - General Ledger. Aftershave. See above, leaked. Between the two aftershaves leaking together there is just too much going on olfactorily to give any sensible comment about the fragrance other than "powerful".

Both AS's have a brown, mosslike, coagulation in the bottom - is this normal?

Wolfpac Shaving - Ice Pac. Soap. Big hit of menthol and peppermint in the container. I expect this to be a great summer soap.

Stray Whisker 452, 28mm. Brush. It's big. Very big.

The Stray Whisker also threw in two samples - very pleasing indeed.

Picked this up at a local vintage market. Hard to see in the photo but it's marked CC 1118 WJM - 45 with an MoD broad arrow. As far as I can tell it's an aluminium British military issue razor made in 1945 probably by Myatt in Birmingham.

Beautiful @Nightguard - if for whatever reason you decide to part ways with that razor, please let me know. I'm keen on service sets and military issue razors.

I have reached out to you by PM in relation to the leaking bottles, I will replace both of them at no cost and get them sent up to you by express post immediately. We had to switch supplier recently and the first batch of bottles had an issue with the dripulators not seating correctly, these have now been replaced.

The particulate in the aftershaves is Calendula extract extract, it is intentionally left in the bottles as it is an organic concentrate.

  7. PM received - that is extremely generous of you @todras thankyou. I didn't mean to suggest I wanted replacements (the bottles are mostly full as you can see), leaks happen, and I am truly blown away by your offer - well played sir.

I suspected the particulate (a much better word than mine!) might have been a natural artifact but it's not something I've ever seen before - most interesting!

I look forward to getting to know each of these scents, even the mixture of both in the delivery bubble-wrap smelled like something I'd definitely wear :).

This is, obviously, the real deal, local and fresh from Food Lovers at Belconnen Markets. I've not had fresh truffle for ages and, to be honest, am still unsure about whether they are worth the $$$ and live up to the hype. At $40 for that 16g piece I hope that they do!

I put truffle infused oil on just about everything - I haven't made the leap to fresh trufle just yet due to price.

I have to admit, I don't think I've tried truffle. Or, if I have, I didn't notice. So, I'm not sure what all the fuss is about.
I can appreciate fancy things. But, I'm just as happy with a steak and a nice bowl of mash.

Funny thing is I live 10 minutes away from a truffle farm... I should probably go check it out.

This should be "shaved" and deployed on top of some properly fried eggs, or, at least a "spanish ommelette", not just a random omelette.
As a spaniard, I am very agressive towards many people call anything a spanish omelette, but also as a a kind man I believe I am, I wont, so please lets us see the omelette with the beautiful earth-gold fruit properly shaved on top of it.
A properly french omelette would also be great with it, by the way, but never mention that or even my name to any spaniard or even, italian xP
    Best!

Here's the most recent stuff I've acquired.

    1. 100x Polsilver blades
One of the earlier blades I really took too. I find them steady and reliable without being flashy.

    2. 200x Gillette Silver Blue blades
Another set of reliable blades. I find them similar to the Polsilvers, but a bit sleeker/sportier, if that makes sense.
I got these really cheap from The Shave Shed a couple of days before it shut-down permanently. I wouldn't normally buy so many. But, well, it was a good deal.

    3. 100x Gillette Nacet blades
A comrade piffed me some of these. 10 seconds into the first shave I knew I had to buy more.
I would describe them as GSBs that have gone to yoga classes. Just as sharp (if not sharper) but with a flexibility that it better follows the contours of my face. This helps me a lot as I have so many angles.

    4. Barrister & Mann - Chesire aftershave
I have loved B&M:Chesire for ages. For those who don't know, it smells much like a used teabag of Earl Grey tea.
Will from B&M finally released an a/s to go with it and I snapped it up immediately.
I admit, it doesn't quite smell the same to me as the soap, which is a shame. But, I still like it for those times I just want something light and crisp.

    5. Barrister & Mann - Reserve:Classic soap + aftershave
      I've been using the B&M Reserve:Spice a/s for some time (it's 75% gone).
Since the new Reserve soaps (with their new formulation) have been released, I decided to try a new soap+a/s combo. I chose 'Classic' because many have expressed that it's their favourite.
The soap gives great performance but doesn't behave anything like the previous B&M soaps. After 3 shaves, I am still learning how to make the best of it.
The a/s gives the same performance as the 'Spice' but with the milder 'Classic' scent. I don't *love* the scent. But it's ok and inoffensive.

At this point I feel it necessary to say that after having played with so many soaps, it has become clear that my nose just can't smell the entire "range" of fragrances. It's like my nose is colour-blind. For instance, some 'Santal' fragrances have almost no perceptible scent to me. Yet, my wife swears they are quite strong.
Similarly, she says that B&M 'Classic' smells quite nice, moderately strong and slightly woody. I smell little more than a mild 'freshness'.

My take away is that I am overall quite happy the Reserve:Classic. But, it's not my favourite scent. I will likely buy Reserve:Spice when it runs out as it just vibes with me.

    6. Emu Tracks - Pure emu oil
I noticed @alfredus using emu oil in his post-shaves and was intrigued.
I think he mentioned it has anti-inflammatory properties and was helping his post-shave game.
So, after some hunting around, I managed to find a pharmacy in Canberra that stocked some.
Because my skin is so oily, I don't use it post-shave. Instead, I use it as part of my night-time regime: Wash face, unscented witch hazel, then mix 2 parts balm with with 1 part emu oil (I use Rockwell's post-shave but anything should work).
Anyway, my skin loves it. It visibly cuts down on next-day skin irritation (breakouts etc). Totally worth the $15 it cost me. Thanks @alfredus!

EDIT: I just did some quick math. I'm using about 1 blade per week. I just bought 400 blades. That equates to roughly 8 years worth of shaves... Far out.
Then again, that's roughly 4% of what 8 years of cartridges would cost. Just think of how many soaps I can buy with that! :ROFLMAO:

I personally prefer truffle oil as well - if you get some good Italian or Croatian one, it definitely is better value for money than fresh ones (at least here)...

I also am quiet liberal, when using - but the best pairings are simple omelettes/scrambled eggs and of course potatoes - try a simple potato soup (y)
