This is why I take risks on old uncleaned razors. Occasionally you get jackpot!

After a quick hot dishsoap soak then toothbrush scrub.
Toothpaste scrub
VERY light metal polish
Buffing cloth...

I got this.. beautiful original nickel finish and I'll stop there. Almost mirror finish and now a top notch example of this razor imo. Very clean for a razor over 100 years old. Was obviously well looked after and stored dry.

$50 well spent 😁

Now some pics.

Very nice mate - congratulations!

Yeah often I get them as good as they will get but nothing can be done about plate loss. This revealed a near new razor barely touched hidden underneath.

Hey Chad

What's a hot dishsoap soak? And what metal polish do you use?

I just fill a plastic container with hot water and liquid dish soap from the sink. Scrub with soft toothbrush. Then sometimes after that toothpaste scrub.

I use the black tube autosol sometimes but only in very small amounts and VERY gently with a microfiber cloth.
