I am in Tokyo for 2 weeks. Any recommendations? Have gotten all the bottles I care to take home. Now looking to try a dram or 3 at a bar.

I got the hibiki, yamazaki, taketsuru, hakushu covered.

You have covered the big ones with the exceptions of Mars. Go and look for something more artisan or small producer with limited output, generally in the smaller & specialist stores.

That's what I am hoping to do. Was hoping for someone to point out anything interesting :).

Bloody hell, must make the trip over soon in that case. You cannot get the Hibiki 17 for under $350 here if you can find somewhere in stock.....

Yea. I grabbed the hibiki over the yamazaki [emoji28]

I actually grabbed one each of these too

I picked up two bottles of Camus XO cognac this week under $100/bottle and i thought I was doing well, but I am officially jealous now.

The yamazaki 18 was 350 aud and the Nikka was 200. Not sure whether they were a good price.

Both very good prices for available stock, of which there is none for the Yama 18 - not even the Oak Barrel has it here in Sydney (out of stock, last price $899 for members). World of Whisky does have it but asking $800/bottle. Well out of what I call reasonable prices.

Stock of the Nikka Pure 21 is hard to find. WoW has it asking $660. Nicks is asking $700.

Japanese whicky prices are ridiculous. But yes, you got both at around 35% of what you would pay here.

@Monsta_AU thanks mate. Actually the Nikka is 21 taketsuru.

Right! that's it I'm bloody booking a plane to Japan :cautious::X3::oops: really want that 21 year old scotch whisky :cautious:

Which one, there is a hibiki 21 and taketsuru 21.

Personally I would go the taketsuru. A sip just lasts forever. The finish is quite incredible really. The hibiki on the other hand is like smooth, smooth as; you could drink the whole bottle in one sitting.
