As the title suggests, this razor is made out of Bakelite and is very light. I haven’t used this razor for years and am in the process of going through my collection to see what I keep and what I will be getting rid of. For the shave I used an Astra (second use) and St James of London shave cream. The only con of this razor for me is that the blade tabs stick out and are not completely covered.

Now, on to the shave. First pass was with the grain, quite easy, fuss free and I had to check if the razor had a blade in it; itwas that smooth. Second pass was across the grain and just as smooth. Normally I only do two passes, but the shave was so good I did a third pass against the grain. Thayers witch hazel toner confirmed the smoothness and zero irritation to go along with the bbs shave. Efficiency wise I would put it slightly ahead of the H&S N075 razor and slightly smoother. I like this razor as much as I like my Lupo DLC, PILS, Masamune, RS-10, Apollo, and H&S razors.

You can pay a lot more for a razor and get a lot less, but not in this case. Unfortunately, this razor has been discontinued and a lot of shavers won’t get to see what a great little razor this is.

I just took a wee cruise through Etsy...looked at Bakelite razors.
They have quite a few...no Merkurs (as of yesterday) though.
Prices aren't too bad if anyone wants to test the water?

I like the look of "Vintage Lurid Green Art Deco, "Souplex Nymph" Bakelite Ladies Razor with Box, Made in England razer shaver safety" as a bit of Art Deco a shame postage is 4 x price of razor

Have the Fine and PAA Bakelite Slant - aggressive wee buggers that kept slicing the top off mole on upper lip - Must revisit them one day
