Any suggestions for a bloke looking to join the Grand Society - after a good price for 1,000 Astra Green's (I know, I know) as I'm concerned the local carries (B&B, etc) won't have that many blades in stock...? Cheers

I cut my teeth here with Astra Greens :)
I progressed to the Polsilver SI's, a bit smoother and sharper and get an extra shave or two out of them.
Not trying to disable you, yet have you tried the SI's?

Might be worth starting a thread for Grand Society discussion to not take up space in this thread. If you are set on a lifetime of Astra Greens, then:
Beard & Blade is $13 per 100.
Mensbiz is $15 per 100.

While Astra SP are a good blade, I personally would like something just that bit better if I was buying 1000 of them. Silver Blues or Permasharp Supers would be my pick. These can be had for reasonable prices while being on-par with the best that PPI St. Petersburg produce (along with 7OC Blacks which are more expensive).

So you want to join the 'cool kids' @Razor Burn ?

Cheapest entry I can see is the Topaz at $60 - https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1000-x-...des-Mens-Shaving-blades-FreeShip/332675368882

Derby at $70, @eggbert might be jealous though - https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Derby-P...-Blades-PackOf1000-SAME-DAY-POST/282975676763

Wilkies! Go on, I know you want to, only $80 - https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/GILLETT...-EDGE-RAZORS-BLADES-SALOON-PACKS/263664004558 [non-vintage in case that is important]

Speaking of Derby - $90 and in Australia! - https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Derby-E...lades-Pack-of-1000-SAME-DAY-POST/282980903195

Not sure that @Monsta_AU would approve of these options though ;)

So many great choices. Here is my entry, BICs :https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-BIC-Single-Blade-Sensitive-Skin-Shaver-1000-Razors/152296024920
They're not better in price, but it would be memorable if someone got Grand Society with those. :D

I think my approach to grand society would be to wait for something a little more tricky to find at a good price like Gillette stainless Reds and buy them up;
A. Great blade that I personally love
B. A decent little supply in the community to share around.
C. Uncommon enough that should you want to sell them you won’t have any issues.

I just had a look at the Reds are $50 for the 100, when I bought my pile it was $20.. different sellers I guess..
But you can buy 1000 nacet for $130 that would be my pick currently.

@Razor Burn before you go too far, what's your most favourite DE blade, I would stick to that and grab 1000 if you can.

PS. I would stay right away from Derby Extra, why? is way too mild.
After shaving with a Derby all of February I agree them to be mild but overall I find Astra's solid enough shaver to warrant that kind of investment and they're fairly cheap as opposed to my other favourite DE blades (Personna Lab Blue, Nacet, etc). Thanks for the suggestion @SpeedyPC :)

Wow I wasn't expecting this much interest and everybody's feedback has been great so thanks. At that price for Nacet blades I'm sold so any suggestions where I can source them as most places I've seen have a box of 100 for around $20 AUD give or take?

With all due respect @Kaeckerut, disposal's are one of the main reason's why I go into wet shaving as I'm lucky to get one solid shave from them but the post shave is horrible, no matter my technique nor use of quality soap/cream. PASS :)

All good. It was a joking suggestion in the sense of using them. I just like the image of 1000 just dumped in a box.

Yes, it's not about 'buying a banner'. It's about find a blade that consistently works well for you.

Remember you can always swap/trade.
I'm not in it for the banner, I'm kinda worried about the new changes to GST laws and how this will/may effect my future shaving purchases and I'm at a stage now where I'm looking to undertake a self imposed sabbatical and getting a good supply of cheap/effective blades makes perfect sense. I'm more than happy being part of 'Da Menth Heads'

Yeah I really could've used a box like that back in the day as it would've saved me a load of $$$ but that's in the past plus I wouldn't be on a forum like P&C if I continued to use those horrible things :)

Yay, special discussion thread!. Thanks @Monsta_AU .

I do find the choice of Astra Greens weird, especially as they're readily available locally. Make sure you're buying them for the blades and not the banner @Razor Burn . 1000 is a lot even if you end up PIF-ing some.
In all honesty I was oblivious to the whole meaning of Grand Society and it wasn't until @SpeedyPC made that post with his recent blade purchase that I put two-and-two together which really shows my ignorance. In all honesty I was only after suggestions on sourcing bulk blades and seeing as Astra Green's are fairly cheap I was willing to make an investment as I actually enjoy the consistent shaves that they provide but they're not my first.

I believe the new GST changes will only affect our/consumer overseas purchases. Local businesses shouldn't be affected as they already charge GST.

So I would recommend getting something you can't get locally, or as cheap locally.
Yeah gathered as much which is why I thought what better place than P&C to ask where one can find bulk blades at affordable prices. My usual spots such as TSW or Beard & Blade have most popular blades for sale at reasonable prices but I'm open to suggestions with nothing confirmed as of yet :)

My apologies @Monsta_AU & @Mark1966 as I never intended to hijack the other thread - just a simple question that probably could've warranted it's own thread as @Kaeckerut suggests so thanks for not banning me as a troll :( Just a fairly newbie after some wisedom from the P&C family.
