Had an interview for redeployment within the company I currently work for mid this week.
Find out the day afterwards I'm successful in the application, which means a change in my career.
Issue is, it means a transition from field/warehouse to an office environment.
Now whilst it is very much a casual dress environment, with my new boss wearing a band's t-shirt and jeans today for the initial orientation, I'm used to shorts, which are a no go in the office.
So what I'm seeking advise upon, is pants.
Namely pants that are bloody comfortable, affordable since I've had some significant unexpected expenses as of late and most of all, are very cool temperature wise.
Any genuine assistance would be appreciated and no, NO birthday suits!

Somebody here put me onto R B Sellers - http://www.rbsellars.com.au/

Unfortunately you have missed the (genuine) clearance of last season's stock but I wear their chinos all the time as 'smart casual'. I'd highly recommend them.

I'm not sure where you live @borked, but if you can track down a Uniqlo store I find their Chinos affordable (at $50), and suitable for business or smart casual dress requirements. I also spend quite a bit of time in the field, and they're hardy enough for those situations as well.

Congratulations on the promotion!

Thanks guys, both for the information and the congratulations.

With regards to the recommendations, temperature wise, how well do they wear in warm environments?
As a man of larger than average size, this also comes with greater than normal heat creation, which in the interests of comfort, I wish to minimise, particularly in Summer.

The RB Sellars chinos I wear are pretty light - I originally purchased as travel pants so I wanted light - but still warm enough that I wore then in northern Europe in Autumn. They also have heavier materials and I have some moleskins and jeans of theirs.

I tend to wear a layer less then my wife but have not suffered excessive heat creation so can't comment beyond that really.

Unfortunately, their closest store is 2xWagga, or Tamworth an additional 30 minutes away, otherwise I would head on down to their local to try a few on for fit, feel and material weight.
They do sound of reputable quality though.

Yeah, I buy them all online now - but now you mention it I did pop into their Collingwood outlet before my first purchase. Their returns policy is pretty OK but sometimes 'in the flesh' is necessary!

@borked go into Target to the Big Man section. Choose a variety of track pants one size too big. That way you can go commando (make sure the draw strings at the waist are nice and tight) and your heating up bits can be happily in a breeze. Your welcome.

As for you @Mark1966 you nearly put me off my dinner at the thought of you wearing "one layer less" than your wife when you were swimming. (luckily I still had some of the orange imagination eraser tablets left. :)

Relax Glen, my wife always wears at least bather AND a t-shirt AND a hat - so the world is a pretty safe place ;)
