Shave of the Day 2015

...

Since @Mark1966 sent my Fatboy Exec back to me, I've been shaving with it on 5 (as that is what it came back on) and have been surprised how nice the shaves have been. I thought I needed something a bit more aggressive and had been using set on at least 7 - turns out the milder shave seems to be giving as good a shave without the irritiation.

LOL - there was no science in that! It was on 5 cause it was just on 5 :)

Glad it seems to be giving you good service again, a razor rescued !

Well, here I am again folks. Another saga in the great book of samples.

This time I got very brave and trusted @Mark1966 when he told me he had sent me some TOBS 1805 cream and not llama semen as I first suspected. (Which I must admit I hoped was true as I didn't want my face to suddenly burst out in baby llamas some time in the future).

The brush was a brush
the razor was the Slim
the blade was the Slick Schick which has now had the dick. (How amazing - I am a poet and didn't know it - my legs show it - Longfellow - Google him peasants).
TOBS after shave cream for gentlethings and TOBS aftershave for gentle things.
Very nice it was too - I will have to keep an eye out for baby llamas though. :)

I believe you mean Truefitt & Hill 1805, though tobs do make shaving cream too.. ;)

Brush: Semogue 1305
Soap/Cream: Jabonman Tierra Humeda
Razor: Gillette Popular
Blade: Feather (1)
After-shave: Lucky Tiger

Not a great shave this morning. Lather and recovery were fine - middle bit somewhat of a fizzle. The Popular isn't so for me. It's bottom of the RAW entries so far. Just not as smooth and the balance is to head heavy.

Ranking of RAW razors so far - based on total of smoothness, effectivity, etc.:
Gillette NEW DeLuxe
Gillette NEW SC
ABC Pocket
Gillette Popular

Brush: Simpson Classic 1
Razor: Fatboy on 9
Blade: Vintage USA Gillette
Soap: MWF
A/S: DR Harris Pink

Second use of the CL1 and it's going great, holds a ton of lather for it's size and works great with soaps. Although I've never seen a brush loose many hairs as it did when I opened the box. It hasn't lost a single hair since I combed it out before its first use though.
The fatboy behaved a bit odd today today though, I usually use it on 5 for one day's growth, tried it today and it felt like I was shaving on 1. Opened razor, readjusted and still felt too mild. Opened it up to 9 and got a great shave. Weird.

The blade?
I used a vintage Wilkie that was like that....

What did you think of the scent? I haven't smelt 1805 but the scent is quite popular.

Brush: Plisson synthetic
Pre-Shave: Occams Crushed Lime Pre-Shave
Soap/Cream: Barrister & Mann Latha (thanks @Nonick)
Razor: Fatip Piccolo (thanks @stillshunter)
Blade: Personna Super/Lab [1]
After-shave: Jabonman Aftershave milk

Yesterday I tried out @borked's Czech Republic shaving cream - Alpa Windsor. It lathered well and gave an OK shave. Solid but not spectacular. I'm not into creams so I could be biased anyway. [emoji14]

Today, the Fatip felt slightly more efficient than the NEW LC but also slightly less comfortable to the face. The angle of the blade in the razor seemed a little steeper than compared with the Gillette NEW. I personally prefer the NEW LC but if you like the R41 then I'd give the Fatip a good run. [emoji6] I'll keep using it for a little while to generate more feedback.

The Latha gave a creamy lather. Terrific really! [emoji106] A few more shaves from the sample of NoNick's and I'll be sad to see it go... [emoji26] Anyone got some to trade?

Anyone got some to trade?

Mate I'd be very happy to work something out for some Dr Jons Original…. 50/50?

Just a little bit more patience - soon there will be a opportunity for all to try this out!

Brush: Plisson L'Occitane Synthetic
Pre-Shave: Occams Original pre-shave soap
Soap: Stirling Lavender & Sage (old formula)
Razor: Weber PH
Blade: Gillete Goal (2)
Post-shave: South Australian Organic Olive Oil

Not a happy shave today - first there was not enough natural light to take a decent picture of the setup, second it was a bit cold and I decided on a warm water shave. Washed my face twice with Occams, lathered up and somehow had many tiny weepers through out the shave...

Have to investigate if it is the blade or if I really have to suffer through winter with cold water - or I have to go back to my old hot towel routine...

On a positive note the lather and the post-shave feel were/are SENSATIONAL - so all is forgiven.

It was a heck of a nice tip by @razorguy wasn't it? Who needs to pay for a specialist moisturiser to wrap up proceedings when a few drops (which is the key!) of EVOO or Argan Oil (FWIW I agree with you EVOO is superior to Argan!) and a lil water on the other hand work wonders.

I have to say it leaves my face noticeably sleek/plump/refined feeling for several hours after use and completely ironically if you apply the right amount (which is seriously only 3-4 drops) I get a very oil-FREE finish, whereas a lot of commercial moisturisers that had mineral oil and who knows what in them would leave a cloggy, sticky finish.
