first real concert for me was slayer in 95 and again in 98. pretty disappointing to find out their only Melbourne gig on the farewell tour will be at download festival.considering if a flight to adelaide might be a better option.
Not sure if I really want to see the Kerry King band once more...I fear it might ruin all the fond memories I have seeing them over the years - especially with Jeff...

looks awesome man.. im jealous!! hey that has the TexMex single coils yeah? how do they sound compared the american standard coils?
To my ear they are just a little hotter, that said the neck is the reason I grabbed it, absolutely buttery smooth.
I’m currently saving dollars for a Vox AC15-
I need a big boy amp

yeah i heard these were hot pickups, i nearly went for an american special strat when buying my first one, these had the texas coils but i ended up with the standard..

The Vox AC15 is a great amp, when i was looking it was between that and the blues junior. Similar 15W all tube amp, but in the end i went for the blues junior and was happy with it, until it got it an upgrade mods done, now it is an absolute beast.

Soon as i got it I changed the speaker to a cannabis rex which tamed the highs and smoothed things out real nice, then a few years later i took it to a fender tech here in Adelaide to get the mods done. He did the tone stack mod, cooled the bias, put in switchcraft input jack, a new reverb tank, capacitor and transistor upgrades and put in a standby switch.

If you are buying or modding an amp the standby switch is a killer mod to save the life of your tubes (along with cooler bias), basically when then playing switch it to the mid position and the tubes stay warm without it running at high temp, when your ready to play just flick it up and go.

Only thing with the blues junior though its voiced for blues, so while it excels in that it aint good for heavy metal, hard rock.. unless you add pedals.. For harder music i just plug into my roland cube 20W (solid state). The Roland is pretty awesome for what it is but it aint a tube amp, one day i hope to get some cash together and get an orange or something like that.

anyway good luck with your search, just make sure to voice the amp for the music you play and solid state amps just cant compare with the warm sound of an all tube amp.

It's not really "proper" Slayer without Lombardo and wasn't for many years before Jeff's death..... Paul and Gary are more than adequate though and also remember that Jeff was *instrumental* (pardon the pun!) in picking his replacement several years prior to his departure.

Yeah not really - I know more than is publicly out there, but cannot really talk about it...except to say it is The Kerry King Band ;)

Heavy spiritual reading there @Ferret619

I just devoured a fantasy novel (first bit of fiction I have read in almost a year) and absolutely loved it. I'm gunna say best bit of fantasy I have read in a few years.

It's the first in a trilogy but it works as a stand alone nicely.

It's an indie title called The Aching God by Mike Shell

There is great tension built up through the entire read, almost like a horror. I liked the portrail of PTSD for the main character. Anyone that has played any dungeon crawling computer games, MMOs or done any old school RPGing will feel right at home. Highly recommend it! Like 5 bucks on amazon.
