I like my Yaqi synthetics, but have gone off the smaller (24mm) sizes.
I have a couple of 26mm brushes and my mostest favouritest brush is the Rainbow, pony knot.
But...maybe more is actually moar!
Might get a 28mm (I don't know, but I think a 30mm might be a tad too big for me).
Probably be another Yaqi (or a Boti), or an AP Shave brush.
This handle...

and maybe this knot...

or this...

Or, can someone point out the error of my ways and direct me to an Aussie brush maker with similar brushes (remembering that I'm now officially an old age pensioner with an income to match).

24/26mm knot synthetic brushes are fantastic for face/bowl lathering, I wouldn’t go greater than the 26mm size for a synthetic knot, unless you choose a silvertip high density badger knot from 26mm and up to a maximum of 30mm.

Paging @alfredus for his professional opinion on knot sizes.

Edit:- Paging @Cris for his professional opinion on synthetic knot sizes.

Only synth in that size range that I have had a decent experience with, is the Chubby 2...but then I don't like any of the Yaqi's...

Bigger is better with synths. :D Nobody ever had a bad shave from a knot that was too big. I like the look of the 28mm SilkSmoke (only because they don't seem to make a 30mm), and my next brush will either be a fan or a fan/flat top hybrid.

I'm sure @TroyTools can make you a handle to suit whatever knot you want

Edit: BTW, If you like the Rainbow Pony, you'll love the Yaqi 30mm Snow Leopard knot.

I do have this big 30mm Tuxedo wearing out it's welcome on the bench already.
Everything is negotiable.:)

Razorock do a huge synth brush in the repo handle I love so much. I have the orange 24mm one for head shaves..but the 30mm is next level in size!

I have a couple of the Razorock synths (see below), good bang for your buck IMO:

After much mumbling and head scratching I finally made a decision.
I bought 2 brushes! You know...if you are not sure which one then buy both.
Ordered from AP Shave a SynBad 28mm bulb knot, and a SynBad 28mm fan knot.
Using the Red/Clear handle for the bulb, and the Blue/Clear handle for the fan.
Now just sitting here waiting...waiting.

Curious to see your views on the SynBad knot as I'm underwhelmed with my 24mm fan knot... :(

Yes, I checked out The Wet Shaving Company first (Yaqi Australia), as I've bought mainly from there before.
The AP Shave brushes are about the same price, and the Canada Post cost is about the same...and I was able to pick exactly the handle and the knot I wanted.
I read on another forum that AP Shave use an Oumo knot. I don't know...maybe one of you does?
Anyway, I haven't spent a lot and have 2 brushes inbound.
Can't be a bad thing can it?

Hopefully they don't take too long to arrive as my knots seemed to take ages to clear Canadian Customs. :nailbiting:
