One of those days where several small weepers appeared but nothing the good old styptic pencil couldn’t fix.

The soap is really nice and able to get excellent lather from. A new Astra was okay but I need to blame something for the weepers, so sorry Astra, you can make up for it tomorrow morning or give me a valid Melbourne cup tip at some point before the race!

How would you rate the slickness and protection of the DR Harris soap? I've got the DR Harris Arlington cream in a tube, and was wondering whether it's worth forking out over $40 for the soap

I haven't tried the cream, so cannot compare directly, but i would suggest that this soap isn't "overly" slick compared to other soaps, or even the Edwin Jagger creams which i was using up prior to this one.

This being said, i still think its plenty slick enough for a DE and residual slickness when wetting one's palm and rubbing on the face or neck is high.

I'm determined to use this til its gone so i'll be trying different techniques to see what works the best.
I get plenty of lather for more than 3 passes by starting with a dampened puck, squeezed out brush and adding a few drops 2-3 times to the puck while loading for about 2 mins on the puck. Then move to wet face for face lathering - this part doesn't take long. A minute perhaps. I do love the scent of the Windsor...

12 sticks of Arko....<shudders>.... I'm struggling to use the one stick that's currently in my bathroom. Haven't touched it for weeks
Sounds like you’re having some trouble with the smell of Arko in your bathroom of urinal weak lemon 🍋 scent from the stick, it’s not your prefer shaving soap

Have you tried Derby shaving stick

Pre: Warm water, Crew oil
Razor: Rockwell 6S R4
Blade: Feather
Bowl: Handmade bowl, Mk2
Brush: RazoRock Silvertip Synthetic
Soap: Australian Private Reserve Florian
Post: Australian Private Reserve Florian Splash

Gentlemen, If my Wife ever found out how much I spend on straight razors she would have divorced me years ago, lucky for me she hasn't and I'm well into my 32 years of a great marriage to a wonderful Woman, what your Wife doesn't know won't ever hurt her.;)
@Jamie as long as you don’t tell you’re wife about your wet shaving Chamber of Secrets in your sleep, IF, you don’t give away your password she’ll probably kill you in your sleep.

Isn't derby even cheaper and nastier?

In all seriousness I don't hate Arko. It's never failed to give me a good shave. Scent isn't great but it's not the worst I've had.

Prep: Valobra Glycerlanolina soap, Myrsol Emulsion
Brush: Tony Forsyth P&C LE 2017 Platypus High Mountain White Badger
Soap: OSP Orange & Patchouli
Razor: Merkur Futur (2)
Blade: Vintage NOS Personna P74 Tungsten Steel (10)
Post: CRSW Alcohol-Free American Barbershop Moisturising Aftershave
Scent: Hermes Terre D'Hermes EdT

A glorious 3 pass shave for a BBS result - an absolute belter.
I find OSP soaps as slick as they come, and the Tony Forsyth brush was cloud-soft and created beautiful lather. Lovely post-shave feel, and I'm grinning :D.

@astinus4 - DR Harris is one of the few (maybe the single remaining?) historical English grooming supplier of triple-milled soaps that is still tallow-based. It is my favourite of this grouping.

Prep: Shower
Brush: Zenith Copper Handled Pro Big Boar - 28x57mm B28
Razor: Razorock Mentor
Blade: Polsilver SI
Lather: Tallow + Steel - Merchandise 7X - Soap
Post Shave: Barrister & Mann - Reserve Classic - Aftershave
Fragrance: Chatillon Lux - Fourth & Pine - Eau de Cologne

Two words for this SOTN: Fuck. Cinnamon. My face was lite up like a Christmas tree :mad:. While the soap didn't truly "burn" my face, I would feel it starting to heat up and could tell my face was reacting with the cinnamon EO in the soap. It's unfortunate, as this was my first T+S soap that I actually enjoyed.:facepalm:

Hello red face, sounds like you’re having an early Christmas cheer lighting up your red face in the dark. That’s okay at least Santa knows where you are in the dark, probably might give you another tallow soap to try out soon.

Don’t forget to smile and say cheers at the camera red face
