Last night I polished the top cap and base plate of my Karve razor. Good results, with only a rag and 5 minutes with Autosol.

Pre: hot shower
Brush: Simpsons CH1 (prefer this over my CH2)
Soap: B&M Jacinthe
Razor: Karve CB
Blade: Astra green
Post: B&M Jacinthe splash
Fragrance: extra B&M Jacinthe splash (I’ve tried, but I can’t find an EDT that smells like the hyacinth / sweet lemon. I’ve emailed Will @ B&M and he advises they there is nothing like it, but that Versace Pour Homme might be close. I had a test and whilst it is citric and floral - there’s no sweet lemon pez which wins for me)

One notable difference with the polished top cap is I don’t think I smelt the brass. Not sure if placebo or real, but I’m happy.

Pre-shave: Shower, Glycerine
Brush: Yaqi 24mm Tuxedo
Soap/Cream: Squadron Dispatch Rider
Razor: Rockwell 6C (3)
Blade: Polsilver SI (3)
Post-shave: Cold water splash, Florian splash and Florian edt.

SLICK! Almost too slick if that's possible. 2.5 pass shave, I say 2.5 because without thinking went wtg and atg on my face on the first pass. Did I mention that it was slick.

Hot shower
The Stray Whisker Silvertip Badger
Squadron Dispatch Rider
Merkur 37c slant
Feather
Omega Alum stick
Proraso creama liquida dopobarba
Beautiful 2 pass DFS (WTG, ATG). No irritation or bleeding. I usually reserve the proraso balm for soothing rough shaves, but went with it today as it's the closest scent match I have for the Dispatch Rider soap.

Was thinking yesterday it's time to hone the Jowika and the inspection under the scope revealed.......

Last honing was May 2017 so was really surprised to see this extent of damage and pitting.

Tidied up nicely. Used the Kapton tape again @bald as which worked really well as there doesn't appear to be any significant warping on this blade so bevel is very consistent.
Needless to say shave today was significantly smoother and more efficient. Some really nice sweet and leathery notes coming off the soap today.(y)
Great photos!

Razor: Vintage Eclipse Red Ring
Blade: Personna 'Lab Blue' (4)

With @astinus4 talking about everbody using @SchoolForAnts's soaps yesterday I just had to get into the party today - better late than never!

fresh blade and ensured plate 5 on rockwell today and got a superb shave with, dare i say it, Phoenix CaD.. tell you what the cooling effect of the AS splash is sensational

Pre-shave: Shower
Brush: Yaqi 24mm Mew Brown
Soap/Cream: Phoenix CaD
Razor: Rockwell 6C (5)
Blade: Persona Platinum (1)
Post-shave: Phoenix CaD Splash

  1. Preshave: Mama Bear's Eucalyptus glycerin shave soap
  2. Blade: Perma Sharp
  3. Razor: ATT Windsor + Freshly honed Gold Dollar
  4. Soap: Wolfpac - Silk Road
  5. Brush: New acquisition - Simpsons Best Badger - Milk Churn
  6. Postshave: Jojoba oil
  7. Earworm: What If Punk Never Happened - The King Blues
This picture doesn't quite tell a thousand words. The DE, was there as a backup in case the Gold Dollar that I honed yesterday was not up to scratch. (Still learning to hone, and had some great advice from @bald as). However, the razor came up pretty good and I didn't need to use the ATT. Whilst the Dollar was not 'Hanging Hair' sharp, it certainly did a good job, 2 passes for a DFS, with no nicks.

Rally liked the Milk Churn, I found the Best Badger to be really soft, with no scritch at all. It released the lather really well, and only had a slightly animalistic smell.

29/11/2018 - SOTD

Pre: Hot shower and Trishave 3-in-1
Soap: Squadron Soaps - Dispatch Rider
Razor: Merkur 34c HD
Blade: Asco (6)
Brush: Proraso (Omega) Boar
Post: Alum and Nivea Balm.

On the Squadron bandwagon today, had a 2 pass DFS. Blade may be getting a little old in the tooth with a little bit of tugging in sections. On an interesting note the Nivea Balm seems to pair really well with Dispatch Rider.

Pre: Warm water, Crew oil
Razor: Gillette Slim H 1 1962 (5)
Blade: Astra Superior Platinum Double Edge (3)
Bowl: Handmade bowl, Mk2
Brush: RazoRock Silvertip Synthetic
Soap: Tabula Rasa Dezember
Post: Proraso Green splash
Very nice shave with the Tabula Rasa soap sample.
