Muhle R95 Rocca Birch Bark Appreciation Thread

Mrs Gargravarr and I have had similar discussions. However, the subject of getting rid of them all does NOT come up: all I have to do is threaten to grow a beard. She hates beards.
My problem is the fact I was quick to buying anything/everything when starting out so now I'm stuck with various razors/parts that I rarely use.
Sold/gifted a few razors and happy with my current collection and don't want to risk upsetting the misses any further considering she let me live after the Charity Auction! Happy wife... Happy life!!! :bag:

That is correct no Errol review. I did a really big write up on it about 6 months ago on the V4 R94, alas the forum gremlins got the best of my post and it was never to been seen.
Yes I recall your write up with @SpeedyPC asking for photos comparing it with the 3one6 but alas, the page never saved it... :(
I might have to write a review but not sure it'll meet the high standards that we expect from @Errol... ;)

don’t fear the feather man!!! I use one on the r41 at times, the wr2 and the t95..

but prob best you do let start with one

So, I had the Feather in my DE89 and went back to using my 6C last night.

I moved the blade across (1 shave old) and had it on the 4 plate.

I'll be honest here, the feather is 10/10 sharp but 4/10 smooth for me.

When I use the Black Wilkies they are 6.5/10 sharp but 10/10 smooth. No irritation or weepers.

Have you tried Nacet? Almost as sharp as Feather, but MUCH smoother. And Polsilver/Wizamet are smoother still. And honorable mentions to the Gillette 7 O'Clock Yellow, a recent favorite of mine...

Not yet.. I have about 150 blades I need to work my way through before I start buying anymore!

I've heard great things about the Nacet blades but availability isn't as easy as beard and blade? I

As a former 6S owner it was recommended to me to try a Nacet and I found them great as sharp like a Feather but smoother and longer lasting.

All good advice for blade choices @Phunk

best I’ve tried to date for smoothness are polsilver/wizamet and the have decent sharpness too

next would be black Wilkies, then nacets.. I have found nacet to be very sharp but you got to get a nice slick lather and there amazing, poor lather and there rough

Good lather slickness is the most important part of shaving, poor lather slickness can lead you towards razor burns, irritation and very important to maintain zero pressure throughout the whole shave.

Trust me, you’ll for in love with Gillette Nacet against the Feather, and the cost of Nacet is also far cheaper than the Feather.

+1. IMHO Feather are overrated! :punch:

I'm a 'shower shaver' so the hair is already wet and soft, I lather nice and thick but it's always just the lower neck against the grain that catches me when using Feathers. The black Wilkies I get nothing.

I'm looking forward to trying the Nacets now.. just waiting on them to be delivered!
