Review Something new

Out of curiosity, how come Derby blades never make it to any of these lists?

Are they really that bad?

I have a box of the Derby Blues un-opened, might give them a try

I actually like the derby, they just aren’t that bad.
That said they aren’t the top tier blades that 50c buys you.

Derby blade gives me a very bad irritation, because, of the coating or some kind of oil on the blade burn my skin red. When I first started wet shaving, many men do have the same issue with their skin, because of the coating oil on the Derby blade.

When I started wet shaving, I’ve been using Derby Extra for about a month, I couldn’t understand why my skin has been red and I thought I had a bad shaving technique or my lather. Until I googled research about Derby blade, that when I found my skin issue with the blade, because, of the coating or some kind of oil on the blade gave me lots of problems.

I’ll never touch any Derby blade brand, because, of the issue I had in the past.

I have Derby SE blades for one of my razors and I find they are quite good. I've just never got around to buying them in DE.

Thanks mate, @Holiday is going flick me some polsilvers, are the wizamets different?
Many will tell you that they're the same blade and just different packaging however I find the Wizamets shave a tad bit smoother.

See how you go with @Holiday's supply and since your a fellow Canberran its no problem dropping off some Wizamets as I have plenty to share (y)

I managed to stretch a Derby past 20 shaves one month and found them super smooth after 10 shaves but not as sharp to shave my thick growth.

Where are people sourcing the Minora blades?
Jump on the Minora's as a wonderful blade that many users are known to stretch the shaves well past 15 and the blade still keeps its edge!

Cheers mate as on my shopping list as a wonderful DE blade! (y)

I don't know how you guys do it.

I get 3 shaves and on the 4th no matter which blade it is I find it irritates me.

I must grow steel wool.

I'm the same and that's the main reason I switched back to DE razors from using cartridge blades for years.

Cartridges are so expensive I was stretching them out for far too long and my skin was getting irritated.

I'll admit it was during one February challenge that if my memory serves me correctly @Maxime D. suggest a few years back: one brush, one blade, one razor, one soap....?

I struggled deciding on a suitable blade and recall @Ferret619 recommending the Derby as they're super smooth and using it for the first time I was amazed how comfortable it shaved that I kept going and eventually the blade became dull leaving me with a SAS but I beat the challenge with 22/28 shaves for the month, skipping the odd weekend shave...

My second attempt involved stretching a Minora Stainless and managed 24 shaves with the same blade then again @rhodes96 went even further with 30+ shaves so it is possible if you take care of the blade after each shave so as not to damage the edge.

Normally I swap after several decent shaves as prefer a super sharp blade against my coarse Mediterranean beard.

Same here. The most I get out of a disposable blade is Schick Proline and that's usually four shaves. With DE blades it's often 2 or 3 shaves.

I'm the same with DE blades. (Though bear in mind I'm a head&face shaver, so that's quite a lot of mileage.) With most of the Artist Club SE blades and the Personna GEMs I use with the Sabre, I get 7 or 8 really good shaves. I can keep going longer, since the performance doesn't drop off a cliff the way DE blades do, but I don't feel the need to push them any harder.

This is exactly my story as well.

Mach 3 I used to get the best mileage on and even that wasn't great.

I even tried importing blades from the Asian countries and they were absolutely terrible.

I remember doing a stupidly long time with a derby on B&B forever ago, I think the goal was to do a hundred but it gets to a point where they just don’t work.
nice, I got their last 200 listed on eBay for 55 delivered
