Everything that needs to be said, has been said.
Nothing much new to discuss.
We need a bunch of newbies to ask the same questions all over again I guess.
No one seems to be posting much, no one seems to be wanting to buy anything as we're all set...
I don't really show up in shaving or even any general australian forums anymore, but I think a serious recruitment drive is in order. Meh what do I know, employ basic psychology based on personality.
Tell the newbs free stuff, tell the alphas they get to be king fish in a small pond, whatever.

It's still just shaving. There's only so much you can discuss. I thought like that few months ago and then things picked up a bit. It's a matter of patience I guess. On the bright side I've lasted here longer than on Badger and Bollocks. I'd rather nothing is said than the endless rehashing of the same old theme by the same old sycophants.

Yes that is true, only so much to say unless you are finding new things to buy, which I am not. I'm set up OK which is why I mainly post in off topic sections.

It is allright for you old jaded types, but some of us are still having fun. You two may have reached that point but some of us are only beginning our journey and retain a modicum of enthusiasm.

Nothing new to buy?????

What are you guys on!

So far this month (and still awaiting arrival):

Gillette Single Ring 460 Set with shipper
Gillette Single Ring 1921 Model cased
Gillette Bulldog
Gillette British Aristocrat #22/66
Gillette Milady Decollette
Gillette Super Adjustable - short handle
Gillette Gold LD Rocket - Cased

Well pablo, that woke a few of them up didn't it. By the way, just to de-rail this thread which is always the sign of a good thread in my opinion, you surely must be doubling up on some of your razors Mark. Or are there really that many different Gillette models.

There are a lot but some are upgrades too :D

Gillette Single Ring 460 Set with shipper - I have single rings but this comes with the cardboard shipper with a matching serial number to the razor!
Gillette Single Ring 1921 Model cased - unusual model I don't have
Gillette Bulldog - possible upgrade or sale
Gillette British Aristocrat #22/66 - possible upgrade or sale
Gillette Milady Decollette - possible upgrade or sale
Gillette Super Adjustable - short handle - I have the long handle but not the short
Gillette Gold LD Rocket - Cased - I have one but uncased

See, always room for one more!

True - GT has been quite busy posting.

I want to buy more stuff so I can post about it, but have had an issue from my financial controller lately. We are getting hitched in December so my expenses have been curtailed for the moment.

We still could harass RM and Mark1966 about their gargantuan collections of gear, that's probably got some legs.

Alternatively you could PIF everything except 1 brush 1 razor and say 10 blades and start all over again. :)

I think the best bet is to let they GSL guys know that we have a new playground over here.

I have also loosened the registration checks so more can get in.

Good - I think I mentioned I got bumped first time in and I see from the stats over 1000 attempted registrations have been foiled for spam reasons. Now I completely understand the need to protect the forum, but when you have a setup that only lets the most determined in, you may miss out on passing trade.

True but is that passing trade going to join, post once then never again?

Not at all, we are not unfriendly, but if they make one post then never again, why that's a stoning offence.

Looking at the registration profile on other forums - typically there's a lot (maybe 75%) that register and don't even post... but they keep coming. As time passes and the total number of registered users increases, that 75% proportion stays more or less constant (perhaps slightly increases) but the fact that it's not a challenge to register means you get more active posters too - more posters, more posts and eventually it becomes self-sustaining.

The downside is that you get the occasional plank who pitches up trying to flog his snake oil and/or porn. So long as you have an on the ball set of readers to report the posts and moderators to take the appropriate action it's not an insurmountable problem.

Mind you - being here at Vision Collision, it's got a slight feel of a Reg Grundy TV show from the 1980s ;)
