Robots -whats with all the robots

When I log in and look to the left I can see how many members, how many guests and how many robots and there always seem to be more robots than either of the other two. Is this search engines doing their thing or have @Monsta_AU blades got together with @Mark1966 razors and formed their own little AI?

It's just the way the internet works. Of course we get the Google, Bing and Yahoo robots checking for new content, but plenty of others which do not play nicely.
