Mastro Livi Grifetto

Mastro Livi Grifetto is a stunning razor. I have three in my collection and they all are wonderful and lovely shavers. Including this one Mastro Livi made for me with mother of pearl scales. Mastro Livi Grifetto is available in six different models, all having the very same blade but different scales: olive wood, Grifetto 60, cocobolo, black African ebony, white mother of pearl and abalone. As I already have olive wood and Grifetto 60, I opted for mother of pearl scales and I must admit I am very charmed and amazed by their look and beauty. When Mastro Livi made this Grifetto for me, he allowed me to shoot a video about the making which I will publish soon on my Youtube channel. I guess many fellow wet shavers would be interested in watching how a Grifetto is made and to know more about the differences between a fully artisan made Mastro Livi straight razor and Grifetto.
  • Pre-Shave: RazorGuy Pre-Shave Oil
  • Soap: RazorGuy Shaving Soap
  • Brush: Omega Bristle Brush 89
  • Strop: Mastro Livi Travel Loom Strop and Hand Palm
  • Razor: Mastro Livi Grifetto Mother of Pearl, 6/8 Full Hollow, Round Point
  • Post-Shave: Alum Block
  • Post-Shave: Umbrian Extravirgin Olive Oil
  • After Shave: Aqua Velva Ice Blue

Is the Grifetto as big as it looks. I would be very glad to own one. Maybe one day I will order a custom.

Something unprecedented for me today! Never in my life have I shaved two days in a row, until now.

Razor: EJ DE89
Blade: Astra (4)
Brush: Simpson Duke pure
Cream: Body shop Macca root sample
After: Alum, TM Dickinson witch hazel, David Beckham EDC

Got brave this morning and did the traditional 3 pass. Slight sting under the neck from the alum, nothing to severe. The Dickinson's really does have a terrible smell. Glad it wears off quickly! Very enjoyable experience altogether. [emoji2]

Brush: RazoRock Plissoft
Razor: Razorock Mission
Blade: Polsilver Super Iridium (3)
Soap/Cream: Vanilla Oak by Shaver Heaven from @Anthony
Post/After Shave: T.N. Dickinson Witch Hazel Astringent / Natio Maximum Razor Relief Healing Lotion
Fragrance: Rochas Man EDT

I wrote my first review on the RazoRock Mission Safety Razor see link http://www.paste-and-cut.com.au/com...ece-double-edge-safety-razor.2348/#post-59913

And WOW! again I'm loving the RazoRock Plissoft Synthetic brush and it feels exactly the same as my Simpsons Berkeley 46 & Duke 3 Best Badger 2-band brush, and also it feels exactly the same backbone as well keep in mind this RazoRock Plissoft brush is a 24mm knot and their is a RazoRock Plissoft Monster which is a 26mm knot so check it out from the Italian Barber website.

Cheers ;)

Pre: Occams Lime
Brush: Duke 2 Best
Soap: Tims - Ghostface Nilla
Blade: Tanifuji 6/8 hollow
Post: Thayers
Scent: Old Spice Cologne

Limited myself to two passes with the straight today. I must be getting a little lax because I put the blade to my face at the wrong angle twice (ie, not even close. Loss of depth of field in the mirror) and both times got a cut. Shows how sharp these things are - zero pain, plenty of blood but nothing a stypic couldn't stem. After two, result was okay. Technique is coming along well. If you are curious about straights.. give one a whirl. The up keep was putting me off but a little time stropping each morning is not a big task and for me I have found it therapeutic. If you don't have the time, DE on weekdays and straight on the weekend.

Tim's is a nice soap with lovely aftershave feel. I am loving the scent too. Moot since he has stopped production.

Duke. This brush is moving toward becoming my favourite brush. Sorry @Hocky27 but it's a keeper. Funny thing happened today too. You may remember they sent me a Duke 2 in pure by mistake. Shaver Hut quickly shipped the correct one and all was good. Today, I got a second in the mail! I let them know, and that I would be sending it back. The reply was very apologetic and thankful. I told them if they were feeling bad, they could always let me keep the second one. No reply.

39c
Derby
Semogue 610
Shaver Heaven Papaya Chill
Lucky Tiger face tonic
Proraso green splash
SH Arctic Mango balm

Papaya chill is sweet and fruity, the coconut and vanilla are the main notes I smell.
Its like an ice cold smoothie, performs great and has good scent strength. I generally don't like sweeter scents but this one works.
Not sure I'd buy a balm of it, only because it might be a little too sweet for me. Though it's wonderfully with the Arctic mango balm.

Glad to hear your liking it mate! Sometimes you just gotta persevere with the hardware. Plus I already put an order in for a Duke of my own hahaha

I got a pure, it's quite good. Maybe the best is slightly less scratchy, but I'm happy with the pure

@Normie you're correct the Best Badger is far less scratchy than the Pure Badger and that's why I own two Best Badger 2-band brush are the Berkeley 46 & Duke 3 ;)

I've had both Simpson Pure and Best. The Best is certainly softer in the tips but after a couple of years (at my rate of use of around once a week!) will be quicker with more use) the difference is FAR less noticeable. When I pick up the Pure now and use the initial contact reminds me that this is the Pure but after than I enjoy the slight additional scritchyness

Razor: Weber Polished Head on Bulldog Handle
Blade: Dorco Prime Platinum (5)
Brush: Vintage butterscotch Simpson AS2
Soap/Cream: Shaver Heaven Arctic Mango Extreme
Aftershave: Floid Vigoroso

Still a reasonable result from the Dorco PP. No pulling or tugging which would make me bin it yet - I'll keep going with this for a couple more days and see when it noticeably starts to degrade.

The Shaver Heaven Extreme made my eyes water and my face tingle - nice when a little warmer shaving later but still not a big menthol fan. The Floid certainly worked as a finisher on this shave. Hmmm, nice ...
