I'm back - what did I miss?

Well I didn't miss my parent's 60th wedding anniversary, surprised them with myself from CBR and brother from PER arriving on their doorstep in Bundaberg with lots of mail, including -

Nice and warm up there, bit of a shock to wake up in CBR this morning -

... but at least the shave was MAGNIFICENT -

Pre-shave: Hot Shower
Brush: Yaqi - Heavy Metal 24mm timberwolf.
Soap/Cream: Saponificio Varesino - Desert Vetiver

Blade: Gillette - Minora Stainless (3)
Post-shave: SV - Desert Vetiver AS / A&E - skin food noushing cream

2 pass WTG daily shave = DFS+. Another great shave with the Rocca and Minora set-up. Maginally better efficiency wise than yesterday's.

Really anjoy these SV triple milled soaps. This soaps fragrance is a homage to Terre d'Hermes Eau Intense Vetiver.

A Feather on my Dome
  • Prep: Hot Shower
  • Prep: Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements - Cube 2.0 Scentless - Pre-shave
  • Brush: The Stray Whisker - 452/24 Synthetic
  • Razor: Edwin Jagger DE89
  • Blade: Feather
  • Lather: Mühle - Aloe Vera - Soap
  • Post Shave: Alum Block
  • Post Shave: Proraso Eucalyptus & Menthol Refresh Pre-Shave Cream
I'm really not sure what to write about this head and face shave.

The Feather blade felt quite rough in places, but other areas it was quite smooth. I feel as though it is the smoothest my head has felt post shave with any of the blades I have used so far. I might have to give this combination a go before committing to it long term.

Some people find the Feather takes a day or two to settle down. It never bothered me, since by the time I've got to the end of 1st pass on face and head the blade already has a bit of mileage on it, but of course YMMV. Some folks abbreviate the seasoning process by dragging the blade across a cork a couple of times.

I've used a Feather once before, and agree that it gets better after the first use. But it felt rougher than the first shave back then, I reckon it was more to do with being my first head shave with it.
