What a fantastic shave with this razor. I had three days growth and it was nearly all gone after the first pass. At first I was a bit heavy handed, but once I got the pressure right, it was pure pleasure. This was, without doubt, the best straight razor shave that I have given myself to date. Whilst the cream performed well, I did not love the scent. A bit too overpowering.

Pretty standard two passes with the Tech and Polsilver.Nice and clean result as one would expect from this reliable combination and it is good to know I can always count on these for a good shave time after time.
Eldest daughter got silver and youngest bronze in the grappling yesterday and pretty happy with those results. It reassures that our training is on track.

Great at every single point, but blame the menthol!!. How can you mortals enjoy something and at the same time drop huge amount of tears? I can imagine refreshing is a point of that, but cam'on, you cannot enjoy the scent while crying out of your eyes!!!
Jokes apart, the menthol got me completely unprepared as I didn't use coolabah for months, and as I abuse (as usual) the splash all over my face, I had to scream while I has 50% blind, 50% enjoying the awesome scent. It is great that after few minutes I am able to write on the computer, so the blind factor was only temporal, while the scent remains :D

While I never tried the coolabah, can someone compare this to say a Stirling glacial soap? I’m eagerly awaiting for the Melbourne temps to reach boiling...

Storybook Soapworks Hook Soap and Splash

Soap was awesome. Worth the shipping. Lathered up like a dream. Doesn't quite have the post shave feel of APR F2 or Declaration Grooming but I'd rate it up there. Easily on par with both B&M bases. If any of the scents interest you, it's worth the shipping.

The splash was moisturising and the scent is about a medium. Still with me an hour after. It's a milky consistency. Nothing like an alcohol splash though.

That's a very fair comparison, Lauren is a friend of mine and I like his stuff, his soap base makes a nice change I find as does the alcohol free splash as it gives my skin a rest some days.

Pre-shave:- Cold Water straight from the tap
Brush:- Zenith B27 Boar 28/55mm knot
Soap/Cream:- Declaration Grooming ~ TSM Fougère
Bowl/Scuttle:- Captain's Choice
Razor/Blade:- Karve CB 'F' / Vintage NOS England Wilkinson Sword #2
Post-shave:- Thayers Witch Hazel & Tea Tree Oil / Lucky Tiger Aftershave & Face Tonic / TSW Aftershave Balm
Fragrance:- Hugo Boss (Original)

The Karve F base plate was too edgy for me to shave, however, it's a little bit smoother than normal and this feels a bit over the top of the Muhle R41, it's not ideal for someone who has a thin, hollow or skinny face to used the Karve F base plate because you will get a lot more irritation during the shave if you're not careful with your angle. The F base plate might be better for someone who has an average or round typeface (chubby) can shave the F base plate without any further issue, because is easier to maneuver and you might get less irritation for those who like more blade feel or edgy feel while is still a bit smoother to shave than the Muhle R41. Is not a very aggressive shave like a Muhle R41, but, it does feel a bit edgier than an R41, I hope this makes sense to you because I can't really explain the correct way.

Also furthermore the F base feels a lot edgier than the Rockwell R6, so I gave myself a second try today using the Karve F base plate and I must say it's too edgy for me and my face, I've decided to step back a bit and used the E base plate during my next shave because the D base plate is my sweet spot on the Karve razor.
