By way of a brief introduction, Australian Private Reserve was born out of my desire to have suitably paired aftershaves and balms for many of my favourite soaps when quite simply the market did not provide for me. I searched high and low, trying many types of brands with similarity to the soaps I was trying to pair but most often I found them wanting, or simply non existent.

I detailed my journey researching and learning about how to make an aftershave in this thread here
where you can read a step by step guide of the process, materials and equipment needed to make your own aftershave - a brief warning though, it is a costly process to do properly. The TLDR: Materials are very costly, you have to be meticulous and be prepared to read and research for months but it is doable if you are committed.

While I do not have a background in making or marketing wet-shaving products I do have a background of acquiring and using high quality artisanal wet-shaving products and I have spent many years, and great amounts of money obtaining them from small run, artisanal producers who are committed to quality of product above all else. It's an addiction of sorts, but you also get to converse with the makers who like yourself respect quality over quantity each and every time.

The makers of these products do not have big advertising budgets, they do not make large quantities, and generally their products cost a little more than large run producers due to the scale of their operation and their absolute commitment to their product. It's about the best ingredients to make the best product for the best results and it is why I respect and gladly pay for their products when I can get them.

The prices reflect the very high costs of pure essential oils and absolutes, the aftershaves run to 6% strength and the balm is very concentrated - less is more in both instances. These prices are not negotiable and reflect my breaking even on the production and packaging of the products.

The Aftershaves and Aftershave Balms

All quantities are limited - I will immediately advise when they sell out and when they are restocked. These take time, care and effort to make and make properly and I will never be a mass production operator.

Postage is not included in the price I am sorry to say. I have used quality bottles and tubs in these products so they weigh a little more, they also feel great in the hand and look fantastic in the bathroom, it is the least the contents deserve!

Orders are by PM here and payment is by Paypal - Please include your mailing address when ordering, let me know what you would like and where you live - I will respond after having calculated the shipping and order cost.

I trust all of you P&C'ers and providing you are not a brand new member I will ship the orders immediately paypal tells me you have sent funds as agreed. I do work full time and work long hours however your orders will ship promptly.

Polsilvers - I'm sorry, I do not want to swap my splash and balms for your Polsilvers (you know who you are)

Most of the balms and splashes have been reviewed here by respected, experienced members. If you need more information on the range, that is the place to ask and I am sure people will provide a wealth of information :)

PM incoming ...

VERY classy bottles and labelling BTW (y)

Thanks @Mark1966 it really was fingers crossed in that regard :)

There is now only 2 bottles and balms of 'The Generals Ledger' remaining and once they go it's on hiatus until the beginning of autumn :)

What! I haven't even tried them all yet.

......
How do you think I feel?
I'm awaiting to catch up in person to sample them (whilst comparing the different fougere's in my meagre collection) and even get a specific mention re pricing/trades... ;)
Guess it will have to be Derbys :p

Nothing whatsoever, ever, possibly, in the known history originating from Jean-Francois Houbigant could be considered 'meagre' but all joking aside, I am somewhat flattered. I think it will be a case of you bring yours, and I will bring mine on the day as from what I hear you have a superb collection from the house of Houbigant amongst others

I walked right into that one

Well there were 6 people testing initially and I sent out a hell of a lot of balms and splashes. As I recall you asked after the testers had been selected and the process was well under way, however I did send you a reasonable quantity of samples from the remainder! :)

That is true, a masterpiece that's transgressed beyond it's time with absolute class.
I've a few different items, that's for sure and hope that you're able to find inspiration from them, that is when you've a chance to catch up :)

That you did and luckily for you, I've very little in the world of Derby.
Seriously, I'm equally flattered to specifically be held to a standard worthy of a mention :)

If only I could buy a tub of coconut sandalwood to go with the splash!!!

You can man, Mystic Water has the Coconut Sandalwood back in stock :)

I put in an order last week for a few tubs of summer soap and some refill pucks of others (and just checked again now) and it is in stock in both the tub and the refill puck at the usual prices.

Is it??? Well that just takes it from an easy "oh well, no matching soap" to "can I really find the dosh for a Mystic Waters soap and an A/S" doesn't it?

If I had known you were after one I would have ordered one for you and had it sent with my shipment, my order clocked in at 1.3 kilos as it was meaning I got slugged the higher shipping tariff so a little more would have done no harm.
