Gents,

What we're after here is a picture of your shaving gear in the bathroom......not all the boxes of stuff you're trying to hide in the cupboard or under your bed (Mitsi!). We're after the stand/pile/hanger or whatever you have there in your bathroom ready to grab your gear from before you get down to business.

There's one hard and fast rule......NO TIDYING UP or ARRANGING for the photo. You have to take the pic as is. Well nothing major anything you glamour seekers!

Then you've got to walk us through what you've got. Here's mine:

IMG_0240.jpg

The key is a pretty cheap chromed stand I got at a $2 shop, works into a corner quite well. The gap on the shelves is perfect for the 5 or so razors in my rotation to hang between the racks, put a lil electric tape around them to make sure there was no scratching. The lil plastic box has whatever blades I'm getting through at present...obligatory alum thats been dropped 2 dozen times and now looks like a deranged cavemans first attempt at a flint tool!!!

Haha ok now before I'm lynched that is womens toner in the white bottle....but it does have enough menthol crystals (pre-dissolved in rubbing alcohol) to almost strip paint. The toner is basically witchhazel hence handy for 'shaves that go badly'.....or 'Make a mental note to change blade out after 4 shaves!'.

Some 3P Post-Shave cream I got from Mr626......sorry I'm not a huge fan. Think paraffin based cross between Vicks Vaporub and toothpaste. :-/

Hanging underneath, courtesy of cheapie lil rare earth magnets glued on are my 3 in use brushes....#6 Bestshave Horsey, Omega 10005 & Jaguar Pro (both boar).

Moving on to the bottom shelf.....we've some mixed shaving cream tubes Godrej Menthol Mist is worth picking up if you're going by an Indian grocery store. Shaving bowl (which is a soup bowl I got for 20c from an Op shop) and my hybrid shaving soap tub - which is squished together Arko & P.160 Tipo Duro.

Nothing spesh but it all works reasonably well and everything was very reasonably priced.

Who's next? :)

Those magnets on the bottom of the brushes are a great idea!

Nice work all around.

I'm a bit of a neat freak :embarrest: so my soaps and creams are in my top drawer, the after shave products in the second draw and all I have on my side of the vanity is...

Old Spice mug, Brushes, current razor and some C&E soap in a nice looking wooden bowl. The soap is only there the provide somewhere to rest the razor off the hard top.

Brush wise there is (from rear left going clockwise)

  • Everready 89 - was in nice condition when I got it so have just been using it
  • Rubberset 300N - after I cleaned it up I found it worked up a great lather on hard soaps. Bit rough on the face so I may 'retire' it soon.
  • Simpson MC 2 - a Christmas gift from my wife
  • Simpson B2 - vintage butterscotch in 'pure' badger. I have box and instructions per this thread.
  • Unbranded vintage butterscotch labelled 'Best badger' 'London Made' and 'Sterilized'
  • Simpson M1 Best Badger
Great idea for a thread Nick

Nothing to see here. I've 3 small kids, so the razors and blades are stashed away. I made enough trips to the children's hospital the last couple of years, with one thing and another, to qualify for a season ticket. Ain't doing that again.

Ditto. My two year old daughter already likes watching dad shave too much for me to leave any gear accessible.

Nice pics though lads :)

Here is my little corner of the world.

Very similar to Nicks stand!

TGN of some description (from Nav)
Toothbrush holder with 34C, Personna razor (eBay score), Gem Jr (generously pif'ed)

.............What we're after here is a picture of your shaving gear in the bathroom...............

I drag out whatever I feel like using on the day with everything stashed away in drawers. So, can't supply "as is" pictures. Not enough room for all the stuff I rotate. But having said that I do like looking at peoples stashes. I noticed there's a distinct lack of SE razors there Nick. Oops sorry, I promised I wouldn't do that didn't I.

Now I know I said you had to take an 'As Is' photo but c'mon man you've got to apply some basic standards! ;-)

Oh, A gift from the mother in law eh.......? Or .................is it your dirty little secret!!!!!! ;-) Just kidding man. :) Seriously, nice stand....you're obviously a man of great taste, have elite echelon intelligence and are hung like a Moldovan Ox. The stand's a dead giveaway. ;-)

Jokes aside, get the magnets onto your brush handles, makes them super easy to dry out & stores a treat.

SE pix, yeah you're right but man you can use your best SE powers on me Pjotr, if I can turn down those generous offers you made I have no fear......oh plus I have around 5,500 DE blades waiting to be used. :-/

Ah you poor buggers with kids.......thats another good reason not to have them. Haha I can leave my razors, pool chlorine, kitchen knives and ratsack lying wherever. Of course my DNA does die with me, but there's always going to be tradeoffs for all the perks. :-D

Nothing wrong with Old Spice deodorant. Or Brut for that matter. At least the sticks are both good.

In a can? That's practically a forum infraction.

I make weekly changes to the lineup on the bathroom bench.
Muhle R41 and Merkur Progress
Some Supermax Platinums I am trying out, some Gillette bleues, T&H Limes and a Semogue LE 2011 boar.
Nice handle, isn't it?
And that is all I use my Muhle shaving bowl for these days.
Not glamorous, most of my gear is stored on top of my wine cabinet in the man cave.
The goop in a can you can see in the right corner is for Her legs.

Below is a snapshot of my stash in the 'cave.

Too much to list individually.
The blades stash is stored in another location. Operational security.

She visits weekly and stays over night as she is from out of town lol..... My plan is to try it, if it's any good use it and face a sea of mockery, or if it's no good empty it all down the sink and use it as a blade bank.

Thankyou, it's obviously the only stand worth having :p

I like the magnet idea, once I get a few more brushes I will probably do it.

lol my bad.... What's the penalty?

Given that your mother in law stays weekly I think you can be forgiven for any infraction!

Re: What a weekend poll

No, you have to use the canned foam for a week and a derby blade dialled to four in a progress.
Thats a fitting punishment.
