Gday all,
Thanks for the add
I am a long time Str8 shaver, restorer, honer and maker but only just found out about this forum, great to see a local grown Aussie wet shaving site to participate on.
See a few members who look familiar from other forums.
I am a member as "Substance" on several other shaving and blade forums
Great to find some more like minded locals, I am based in Central Quuensland
Hope to be a contributing member here also and help others where I can.
Now to finish reading all the forum rules so as not to step out of bounds
Cheers
Dion

Hey welcome. I think I've seen you around. You've got a website no? I'm Mackay which if I remember correctly is but further north than you?

Welcome @Substance - fantastic to gain another str8 shaver! (And honer and restorer and...)

It's funny how so many str8 shavers are based in QLD.... Hmmmmm... [emoji12]

Hope to be a contributing member here also and help others where I can.
Awesome! That's what we all love to do here so sounds like you'll fit in well!!

Now to finish reading all the forum rules so as not to step out of bounds
Cheers

I think there's one rule: don't be a dick.
Pretty simple really. I believe only a few have copped a hit over it but that's because they were...

You'll find that the boundaries here are very flexible...
And we tend to go off track...
And tend not to take life too seriously...
Hey! We're Aussie afterall!!! [emoji6]

So... What's your current favourite soap and aftershave?

Welcome and as @filobiblic already stated not many rules here (y)

What's your favourite brush at the moment?

Welcome mate!

Sounds like you have your sh*t together with looking after that blade so as @filobiblic said what sort of other kit do you have?

Some keen SR8 users, honers and restorers here, even another maker I think???

Certainly few rules, pretty much covered above but expanded on a little here - Welcome to Paste & Cut!

Meet @Mark1966 - he's our resident lawyer-in-progress.

BTW have you finished your Masters yet @Mark1966? We can't have you offering legal advice when you aren't qualified yet!!!

NO!!!!

Not a lawyer in progress, merely a student of the law ;)

Will finish my Grad Dip Legal Studies at the end of the year after picking and choosing the subjects I like and ignoring those I've done before or am not interested in. So I will not be able to practice (but never wanted to).

Also clears the decks for my wife and I to undertake our doctoral studies in a couple of years together :)

Well thanks for the welcomes lads
Couple of answers:
1 - not a brush I only have 2 users 1 is my grandfathers butterfly boar that I only use on occasion, the 2 is a Edwin Jäger best badger had it 3 years, but recently started looking for a new brush and narrowed it down to a 26mm The Golden Nib High Mountain White set at about 50mm in some black horn with abalone inlays, just need to decide whether to make it myself,or get it made.
2- several soaps but my fav soap is TOBS Jermy street
3 - a few AS's but my fav is Truefitt and Hills Freshman
4 - fav stropis my Scupple works 3" Vegi tanned horse hide with natural linen
5 - a couple of inherited DE's my fav is my grand fathers Aristocrat
6 - now the str8s well that's a whole different story, about 110 odd str8s in all about 50 restored and In rotation all by me except 2 severa customs I have made.
7 - Hones are a 300/1000 grit DMT, Nani 1k, Norton 4/8k, Nani 12k, Pike Swatty barbers about 16k, Tam O'Shanter about 3k, another pike, a dual grit frictionite,
