I used the 15k proyan to lead into a pasted balsa progression. It works fine in that context.
I haven't played too much with the adaee 12k yet. I'm still working on my shaving technique.
Of recent I've honed successfully using the scienceofsharp "simple" method, the edges are close in keeness to the pasted balsa edges. All you need in that case is king 1k/6k.
As far as the SS 12k. They are my worst experience with a Japanese waterstone. It continues to be recommended at large, but I've seen at least 4 other people having extreme problems with them like me.
