A singular bottle of 14/1/98 production dated Rudolf Jelinek (Product of Czech Republic) vodka threw out a forlorn look, seeking a new home at an independent that recently changed hands.
I'm guessing this was the elderly owners preferred drink, as I've not seen it in there before and it has been almost 18 years in existence, so I'm guessing it was held out back for those that knew about it, rather than the metho showcased out front for the sheeple. Reviews are nigh upon impossible to find, maybe you will have better luck @Monsta_AU ?
Stolichnaya Elit preceded it from a return @ Dan's, accompanied Titos and Zytnia, precceded by Ketel One from BWS.

Some Nannys finally arrived, with thank to @eggbert and no thanks to @AusFarce.
JGS exchanged hands as well thanks to @MrT
A few vintage razors to try out also found a new home thanks to @Mark1966
Either last year or beginning of this year also saw a few samples from @Nonick

Absolut Elyx, Belvedere Intense, Heavy Water and Smirnoff North are upon the future hit list, when coin permits.

Bugger, I forgot to check out the local bws for the vodka you mentioned!

Yeah, never heard of it before. How much did it set you back? Picture?

Anything that old I want to try. It's almost a shame that it wasn't an '89 bottle which would make it pre-Velvet Revolution.

Jelinek is mainly plum brandy (Slivovice) though - that's where I know the brand from. My quick research shows that they produce Vodka only in Slovakia now, so it's a rarer bottle.

Excellent! interesting, EXCELLENT! and meh.

Reminds me I need to go get more vodka generally. Elyx is at the top of that list.

Probably not too late, as by memory, most stores still have them tagged on special for $45-50, when they're scanning for $30-35.
Good luck.

$45 and that's with $10 knocked off the price asking for a better deal.
Pic coming.
Yeah, I know, yet at least it's pre-millennium.
Speaking of old vodka's... https://www.masterofmalt.com/style/plain-vodka/rating-d/6/
Hope your credit card it in the black ;)
Yeah, plum is what they're known for.

Is North worth the coin @$30ish mark ?
Have heard that it's not too bad, yet you're not impressed ?

I've a few bottles of Ketel One set aside for you if you're still interested btw.
If not, well :D they will not be wasted, put it that way :p

Yeah, I will have to go in and get them to scan it for me. Was ticketed at $43 when I went in which is still decent, but only one on the shelf.

I don't mind that for the price, hopefully it is quite decent and you snagged a bargain. It's always worth a look in some of the indys, amazing what you can find sometimes.

Keeping it short as this should really be in another spot, but the flavour is interesting, but it is still Smirnoff. Although at least the last bottle I looked at was imported rather than diluted and bottled in Huntingwood. As we all know, that is why Smirnoff Black is still ok - it is imported in the bottle.

Hahaha, no worries. Just a decent one to have on the shelf, that is all. I need to buy myself a little bar trolley/cabinet to put everything in. As for that link, my CC hates you. Did note they have Smirnoff Export strength. 50% @ $40/btl. Da Da Da!!

Mixed bag of Schick PP (X 6 packs) and Spoilers (X 2 packs) was on my desk when I arrived back to work today. Apparently Wifebert doesn't need me at home as she has her mum there.

Along with these is a (to me) shitty Khaki Set that I am more than willing to send on if it helps anyone complete a set?
The handle is split pretty much along its whole length, so not really usable as a shaver - but if it helps anyone out I am more than willing to send it on.

If not it will probably go in the bin at the end of the day.

Caties Bubbles has landed.
LPV and the Fruit Loops one. Both scents are nice out of the jar.

Not shaving related but ....

Our existing F&P front loading washing machine was eight years old and starting to play up. After saying to each other that it is likely to break down completely later in the year after all the sales are over we decided to strike while the iron was hot and replace it now.

Based on our F&P experience we wanted a European brand as front loaders are the norm over there and ended up choosing this given our experience with their other products in our home and generally positive reviews -

As with previous white goods purchases we looked locally and online at Appliances Online. The online price was cheaper than local B&M shops and included delivery, basic installation and removal of old washer - THE NEXT DAY! The local retailers wanted more for the washer plus $55 for delivery (can't negotiate on that as this is what we have to pay the delivery contractors) another $149 for installation (which was probably a different contractor) and removal and disposal of the old washer was up to us. All of that from a disinterested 'customer service representative'. I would like to support local businesses but not when they make it this hard :(

After two weeks of use the consensus is that the new washer is quieter, washes better and is gentler on our clothes - happiness is a quality product doing its job well!

But how well does it clean the razors?

How hard do they think it is to install a washing machine FFS?
150 bucks for screwing in a couple of pipes (which were already in situ) and plugging it in!

I bought a 2nd hand Miele front loader when we bought our house for $200. The delivery guys might have earned their delivery fee from that one as it weighs a ton!
Has worked perfectly so far, - only issue is that it's a little on the small side at only 5.5kg.

Exactly! Which is why I presumed it was a different contractor and this is basically a call out fee. It just demonstrated that they really were not interested.

The Appliances Online guys I admit were late - but they did call and were very apologetic. Their problem was the previous job which involved delivering a large fridge up four stories into an apartment and then having to remove and re-hang three internal doors to get it in place - none of which the customer had bothered to mention at the time of sale. I really felt sorry for the poor blokes.

But they came, unpacked it and carried it in, screwed in the hoses and plugged it in and then checked it was level before putting it on the Drum Clean cycle as they are factory tested and recommend running this through to clean out any residue or water still in the system.

5.5kg on the max load and smaller capacity on specialist loads - the hidden trap with front loaders but still well worth it IMHO. This Bosch has been great. It is made in China to keep costs down but German design (large sticker on it to reinforce this!) and German QC at the factory. Very happy so far.

I've not yet tested its performance with razors though ....

That is great service. And the ones going broke scratch their heads and wonder why

... before complaining loudly to the media and politicians demanding that the GST be added to imports as this will fix their problems.

I mean seriously Gerry do you really think that people are buying white goods and lounges and TVs and other furniture online from overseas?

Not that Gerry is going broke though - he doesn't make his money from selling things anymore.

I briefly spent a few days this week in and around the Melbourne CBD so naturally *cough* found myself in the MensBiz store in the Royal Arcade. After having a good poke and sniff at what they had in store (mainly TOBS, a few brushes and some substances for beards), one of the blokes noticed me poking at his Acqua di Parma. After a brief chit-chat (including mentioning P&C and discovering that he'd never heard of MdC) he asked if I wanted a sample of the AdP to try. So a few minutes later I walked out with no new purchases but a big grin and small sample of AdP.
Acquisitions in Sabbatical do exist! [emoji6]

Preaching to the choir here mate and most don't know that Harvey Norman/Domayne/Joyce Mayne stores are not company owned, yet are made up of several franchises.
While you're in the place created to hide politicians the majority of the year...
