Hear ye, hear ye!

I feel compelled to post in light of the growing spread of vile and baseless brushism that is taking over the boards. A somewhat puritanical streak has emerged where the terms floppy, soft and the like are used as epithets rather than descriptors of a brushes character or performance.

I fear there are members hiding in the shadows to scared to post in the SoTD etc for fear of reprisal and mockery. I ask all members to keep in mind that this seemingly abiding requirement for "backbone" (clearly the choice of those with stiff upper lips - DYB, DYB, DOB, DOB I say old chaps) is merely a preference of some board users. Thick skinned fellows, such as myself, enjoy the banter but perhaps there are some who might think it is serious?

Those who enjoy their Semogues, their Kents, their Edwin Jaggers in silvertip - fear not the slings and barbs of our more 'rugged' members who demand some sort of fibre driven assault on their cheeks to enjoy their shave. It is but a preference. Those of us, confident in our masculinity, can enjoy the caress of our cloudlike tools that effortlessly generate and release gobs of lather.

I can only hope that the recent positive talk surrounding synthetics can help bridge the divide between the stiffs and the floppies of this world.

As for myself...I will start to dream of that Kent BK12 King of the Clouds!

BK8...too small :p
Oh. You like to smoother your face in a mop-like head of fluffy goodness! Well, whatever takes your fancy and gets your hairs to stand up...

Used my Omega 31025 this morning, was quite nice actually. But it is still a brush with balls...ummm backbone. Thinking of ordering a Semogue 1305...just to see what all the fuss is about.

Talking badgers but, anyone suggest a nice super soft brush?...that's not floppy[emoji12]

Considered a quality, latest gen synth? Is exactly what you've stated and will cost you way less than a silvertip etc. Perhaps try and nab one of the L'Occitane Plissons @$USD30 before they go - that brush's reviews read like EXACTLY what you're after.

Though it could be a tad towards being too floppy but the many other very good synths in a decent sized knot should be bang on for you. WORST case you've blown $60 and have a travel brush FOR LIFE - as the thing will never die.

See if you can find a Muhle Silvertip Fibre (version2 - the latest ones) - 21-23mm knot - just pick the handle you like. Never heard a bad thing about them and a lot of folks have said they use nothing else now they have one - meant to be THE best synths in the world bar none.

Bugger the 15min cutoff on edits. FWIW Shaving.ie has some pretty good deals on the Muhle STF range. Has the Kosmo handles (which I hear are preferred by porn stars, Latin American dictators and minor deities!) for around 32 euros (ex.VAT) - postage is usually ok. Another sponsor here Connaught has them priced well also.

Alternatively Shaverhut seems to have the Olive handled Kosmo for a good price of $69 - and I think if you dig around at YKW there is a coupon code or similar, could get it down to around $60 posted. Thats hard to beat IMHO - lifetime warranty to boot!

PS. Haha you're prolly going to say 'I don't want a bloody syth ya wanker!" but anyway.

Well I guess, personally not taking anything said on forums even remotely serious, that there could be people that think that way. All I can say/advise is that the more comments you get the more you should use it. Be it a floppy brush or ARKO!!! Preferably both. Loud and proud! It is only banter and it is only shaving. I draw the line at Valobra. That stuff is simply unacceptable.

Typical ARKO!!!! user, debasing another fine product and nullifying any benefit of OP's post :(

Yeah mate already got a 23mm STF2
…and love it!
It's what converted me to the softer face feel of the brush
…this backbone thing is overrated - wish someone would just have the kahunas to just come out and say it!

I you face lather, which is the only way to shave by the way, you need something with a backbone. Please don't tell me we should start saying YMMV. I hate that one even more than the G-word....and smileys.

I once accidentally made a very floppy brush through setting the knot too high because it made the brush look marginally better. Almost the identical affect they achieve at S......... I won't say the name in case I offend somebody. Ended up having to put elastic bands around the base of the knot to stiffen it up a bit. Now that looks really horrible. Steamed it out (don't do it folks, it can stuff the handle up big time) and reset it 7mm lower.

Hope you don't mind the occasional "Like' but…as I had to "like" that last one. Well said mate!

Nah, but some of this brush stuff gets pretty boring:
- gel-tips
- scritch
- pillow loft

I mean for fuqsake I just like a brush that doesn't scratch the first four layers off my epidermis and makes a lather and releases said lather where I want it. Everything else is either hipster fluff or yank wank.
