P&C Outage - how will YOU cope?

Seriously, next time I am not even giving notice of an outage....

What! No that wouldn't be playing nice!

I'm thinking I might do my tax return ...

Exciting stuff that I've been saving up for just such an occasion!

Came and went very quickly - only down ONCE when I came looking.

Thanks RM!!!!!!!

Yeah, it wasn't too painful. I have a test environment up (under .htaccess security) but took me a couple of hours to fix the database to support the new URL and a few other issues. It seems quite a bit speedier - and so it should as I now have 2GB of RAM to play with instead of 384MB.....

One main bugbear is that FTP will not do recursive MPUT file sends, so I got around that by archiving the entire site into a .tar.gz and FTP'ing that over instead. Took about 30 seconds to transfer.

The Database was about 98MB and the dump transferring in around 40 seconds. The DB reconfigure took about 4 hours and much swearing. Still plenty was learnt and I have a plan for next time.

Woman talks dirty to man results in $5.95 a minute.

Oh wait. Wrong thread.

Seems to have all gone well, thanks for your efforts RM.

I spent the downtime/weekend:

-Watching the V8s (Saturday race start was...interesting to say the least)
-Swearing/cursing/attempting to fix my old Victa 2-stroke mower
