Plisson Synthetic

Just read that once stock is exhausted there will be no more. So if anyone was thinking about it, would be a good time to buy know.
I was just about to post the same message. Good job! [emoji6]
(Did you end up getting one yourself?)

So if I hold onto mine for a while it'll appreciate in value, RazoRock Slant like?

BRB gotta collect them all!:ROFLMAO:

I didn't (yet). After reading the caties bubbles post yesterday I logged on to the website noticed they just restocked a heap of items on Sat and were already sold out of alot a day later. So there was x2 tubs of fruit loops soap left and I had to have 1.

I'm trying to cool down on purchases but it's so hard. I just bought a new washing machine and I'm about to try a playstation 4 this week too....

Ok, it arrived, I shaved.

BLOODY HELL.

And the red stuff did not flow either. Finest lather I have ever produced, virtually foolproof. And that was with Proraso green.

I need to work out how to get the best out of it, but I am amazed at the performance and ease of use that this brush brings. Feels very very soft and I was really concerned about floppiness but no such issue.

Should the Manchurian Badgers be a little less worried? Probably not but I won't be dismissing a synth out of hand anymore, while it won't replace any quality badger in my rotation.

At my cost of acquisition, it's about the same price as my Vulfix #374. Completely different beast but the overall performance is better.

Really looking forward to hitting some hard soaps with this brush.

Well I am glad to hear that you finally used it - only last night was was thinking that bloody Monsta hasn't said boo about the Plisson and so I've no idea if you liked or despised it. After this post I'm leaning towards the former.

Is nice to hear that it's made such an impact on your first use - and yes, if you liked that lather you can imagine what a top draw soap will generate.

Haha part of me was thinking I'd have been better keeping it as a backup, as I so love mine but I think it'd have been sitting for many a year before that so great that it went to yourself. With praise like that from you I bet we'll get another rush of folks clamouring to buy them.

To be honest I only got in touch will filo about it last week. I have had plenty on during the break and it wasn't going anywhere.

To be honest I think it is more of a soap brush, feels super soft in the tips but when actually using it the backbone is definitely apparent. Nice flow of lather too, although I probably used a bit too much Proraso with it. May also need to change my lathering technique for the brush as it seemed to suck the product up initially and had quite a bit left inside at the end. Might need to leave the brush holding more water to start, but will experiment a little.

Look, I say at the ~$40 mark they are a steal. Performs better than the Smog 730HD and that is getting up to $90 worth of brush. Even at full price locally, I would contend that they are indeed well priced. Won't replace a reasonable Simpsons in Super Badger though, its definitely missing the je ne sais quoi of a top quality badger knot.

I cannot comment on the Muhle synths as I have not tried them, but I certainly am interested to now.

Well if you feel you might have used too much product with it then you definitely did as one of it's traits is that you will need to use considerably LESS product to get said lather.

Soap brush? As opposed to creams? Dunno as I avoid the latter like the plague but I'd be very surprised if it had any issue with them at all - if anything I'd expect it to do better with a cream than a natural brush than with a hard soap vs natural brush - but I'm sure others have tested.

That said I can see what you're alluding to with the high end badger brushes but thats $60-100+ more and I don't know if there's going to be any tangible performance difference for the vast majority if not all users. Plus you get the value added aspect of not having to deal with the risks that are inherent to any natural brush e.g shedding, initial musky/animal scent, less forgiving in certain climates (humidity).

The other often overlooked benefit of them that you touched on is that they're almost foolproof in their operation.Face or bowl lather, damp brush or pretty dry, etc etc they're very forgiving and get you to that very plush, dense lather thats almost without visible bubbles in very little time at all. Personally I find loading them relatively dry then face lathering adding a tiny bit of water to the middle of the brush (by depressing it on my chin so that I've got a 'well' to drip it into) works best - but again the soap used will affect this.

Whats also forgotten is that this Plisson is a relatively modest knot - I think it's a 21mm? So it would really be something amazing if they had a 24mm varient etc - but thats perhaps where a few of the Muhle STF's come in etc.

Yes, well they seem still to be $40 locally so are an outright steal at that price. Lets not forget, watered down as it is they also have the Plisson name on them and for that 'I don't know what' factor that's got to offset that a tad.

Really? I thought they were around $100 locally and $30 in the US?
Yes, you are correct in that this had quite preposterously been the case - but have been on special for $40 via the Oz L'Occitane's for a while now, I'm 99% certain this was flagged a quite few weeks back (actually I'm 100% certain of it as it was only just after @filobiblic got back with my 3 brushes that this price came out and so we were all kinda amused that our exclusive club would now have dozens of other new members who rather than going through a whole bunch of hassle just grabbed at their local L'Occitane) but amongst all the banter here its not surprising if it were missed.

Thanks @Nick the Knife - I must have missed that.

A VERY good price on what I understand to be a great brush. So tempting but I'm not sure when I would use it...

Happy to have helped mate.

Well between you and I the thing that should really keep you away from buying it (even though you KNOW that at that price plus with an outlet there in the CBR CBD!) is that once you start using it you're going to look at all those other $USD1200+ worth of brushes somewhat differently like they've been shortchanging you!

Haha take the Pepsi challenge and see! I mine if Drubs and Monsta have been sold on it - especially the former surely you've got to know there's a LOT of steak with that sizzle.

I'm sold on Synths already. only took a couple of shaves with the MuJagOP, which has the STF2 fibre all the Muhles and Jags have.

I haven't been YKW because we haven't started a fire sale in the gun shop here yet, but I'd be surprised if there wasn't a hype train as slick as the Maglev. That, or pushback from purists who haven't tried them yet.

I find they work best with a dampened soap, as the tips can be a little dry as they don't hold a great deal of water. Ad you don't load them like badger. They're stingy. Which for some, will be a real problem getting through their stuff.

I really tried not to, but knowing they wont be stocking them shortly and the above reviews - i had to.

I just hope its better than my Omega synth.

To be honest, I think I will get another as a travel brush. Mine was dry 10 minutes after the shave (back to the bathroom to brush my teeth after getting dressed).

I think these would go really well for str8s users, but I would be conflicted. You want a traditional shave yet use a modern fibre brush?

There is just something amazing about a top quality badger, the Plisson is missing it. And for a French company, they are missing that typically French sense of tradition and style, and produced something so technically brilliant you would svear it was made by ze Germans.

*Points up*
He swore!
Comparisons where French and Germans in the opposing corners...

Upon a serious note, anyone else looking forward to further synthetic advancements and wonder how they're able to improve these synthetic fibres for gen 5 ?

Keeping it British is always a safe bet over a fussy Frenchman
