Late entry for me today. Busy day. I needed to be at my GP quite early for an assessment in order to obtain a "QLD Driver Medical Certificate" enabling me to legally drive for another year. I passed! Yippee! This is required every year for all of us over the age of 75.

Today’s shave features software products I picked from my local Supermarket, including the Palmolive Lather Shave Regular with Coconut Extract (Made in Italy).

Shave Result: The lather performed surprisingly well (last time I used this cream I wasn’t that impressed), it was rich creamy stable medium-high density slick lather, this could have been because of my slower lather build this time. The scent is the light unique “Palmolive” aroma, I would call it a type of fougere scent, scent strength 3/10. Wonderful smooth shave from the EJ DE89 & Suneko blade, the blade was still smooth even after 5 shaves.

The Gear:

  • Pre Shave: Pears Clear Glycerin Bar Soap
  • Brush: BillyGoat “Picasso” with 26/56mm Synthetic 2Band knot [A]
  • Soap: Palmolive Lather Shave Regular with Coconut Extract
  • Bowl: Whispers From The Woods [A]
  • Razor: Edwin Jagger DE89 head with Yaqi Nickel plated Hollow Brass Quo handle (Weight: 66gm with blade)
  • Blade: SUNEKO Amorphous Diamond Super Stainless (5)
  • Astringent: TN Dickinsons Witch Hazel with T.Tree oil & Menthol Crystals
  • Balm: Nivea Men Sensitive Post Shave Balm

Pre-shave: Hot flannel, Valobra Glicerlanolina

I haven't been giving this brush nearly as much use as it deserves, mainly because I have to spend a bit too much time picking shed hairs out of the lather. Obviously this is in no way Troy's fault, and with such a huge knot it can afford to lose a dozen or so hairs a day for some time before it starts to look a bit mangy. Eventually, I'll probably go for a re-knot with another synthetic, if or when I find a suitable candidate in that size.
