Yes, it's back to Standard.
With the Shavemac 177, I find it harder to achieve that ultra glossy lather I usually get from other brushes. I wonder why, but there was no lack of lather though, the brush produced so much lather that it just kept spilling out and I had to contain it. I used the Load/Hydrate method today and started with a slightly wetter brush than I usually would with this technique. I probably should have slowed down the swirling at the beginning to let the water in the brush slowly pick up the soap without creating bubbles. I will test lather tonight and give it another go just to get a better grip on this. I shall not fail my lather idol - @alfredus

Down to the shave. I followed @Lifes a Peach and @Osman recommendation to load a Feather in the standard. I think it's the smoothest shave I've had with a Feather, ever.
Remember how I always mentioned that the Standard has an amazing blade feedback? When paired with the Feather, just light pressure on the face is enough to decimate an entire village of whiskers. Really smooth, fantastic and one of my best ATG shaves. Very smooth and happy shave tonight, with one or two really small nicks due to carelessness.

Alum feedback confirmed the shave was an amazing one. Splashed on the Arctique and I accidentally rubbed my eyes. Ouch. Can feel the menthol sucking the soul out of my eyes.
@saku39 It is confirmed, the Standard is definitely my favourite razor.

Hmmm, shave was pretty rubbish again :(

Not sure if me or the OEM blades or the whole ATRA thing. Might have to get some genuine blades and compare.

I hear you @silver. My eyes were watering on first application. I had similar discomfort when I splashed on some bloom water from the excellent ShaverHeaven Arctic Mango soap. I was in the shower at the time, and the soapy solution run down my bod and contacted the family jewels - the ensuing exothermic reaction had me imagining 'boiling' eggs in liquid nitrogen.

It comes in handy all the time.
Every daytime is hot (I think every day of the year has an average maximum over 30), but it's supposed to be the dry season, when it cools down a bit, at least overnight.
But last night the coldest it got was 25 degrees!

Travel kit as we are up the coast for the long weekend. The La Toja and this spectacular brush created mounds of slick lather. I always think this would be a great beginners combo. I never use shave sticks at home, but I really should.
WTG, XTG, ATG to BBS, despite the fact that the mirror is about 3 meters away from the sink in this bathroom.
Speick did it's usual amazing job. Right, pancakes anyone?

Soap/Cream: Mike's Natural Shaving Soaps - Barbershop
Aftershave: Captain's Choice - Bay Rum

After a crap shave away it is nice to come home to an old faithful and reliable combination. The Mike's just lathers so well and easily!

Might take a raincheck on the pancakes @Psmith - we had scrambled eggs and now out for coffee :)
